And when you do, maybe she would let you share the recipe?

I'm another pickled herring fan but then, we ate it when I was growing up. I'm never without a jar in the fridge.
-
Ohhhhhh, you're good!
-
Yes they do.

I found this interesting, I had never heard of it. How salty was it?

@rarerollingobject you hiring? -
Me too.

I dunno, Norm, I think you need another cooker.

@rotuts I have bought them in the past and my one quibble with them is that they are very "airy", that is they don't have a lot of substance. I like them a bit denser than the way these end up. That said, they are tasty little things.

I really should stop following this thread. But, I'm afraid I'll miss something. What to do, what to do, what to do! I know! I'll buy the Homesick Texan's book!
-
I shall check the label. I remember looking at the salmon and cod labels, but didn't check the trout ones as we don't usually buy trout. I don't buy farmed fish/seafood if I can help it.

The trout I saw were orange/red fleshed, not grey or white.

So if the trout is opened like a book, i understand the bottomlayer I think, in that you would cover both halves. So what is the top layer? Another trout that gets put on top of the first one but also needs the stuffing so you put it on in reverse order so that each whole fish has the herbs in the same place? I'm a bit confused. Are we talking 2 fish or two halves of one fish?

@Dejah That trout looks amazing. I just saw some really nice, fresh trout at Costco yesterday and wondered about getting some. If you could share the details of how you prepared yours, I'll hop right back over to Costco and pick some up.

I bought my first local asparagus yesterday. This was a side dish for our dinner tonight. Roasted asparagus sprinkled with lemon juice, and panko crumbs toasted in browned butter and harissa.

Well thanks, @Toliver, I guess. I sprung for the Soup Factory cookbook.

@gulfporter is there a recipe somewhere for that soup? It looks like something we would enjoy once we get local tomatoes. Sadly, that won't happen until August but It's good to be prepared!

Thank goodness.

I did a bit of baking yesterday and today but alas, none if it is for us. We are heading to southern Ontario tomorrow and I made focaccia fruit buns for one of John's sisters, currant scones and raisin scones for his mother and a batch of peanut butter chocolate chip cookies for his mother. I love his mother. No pictures because while it all tastes goods, the pictures are boring. -
The Anova people were quick to respond and have sent a return label. When they get it, they will send me a new one. Thanks for all your help.
