I was looking for something to make with sweet potatoes and sausage and came upon a recipe for Sweet Potato Hash with Caramelized Onions, Sausage & Eggs that sounded good. Reading through the comments, it seemed like people were having issues with getting the individual ingredients cooked to their liking and I was getting hangry so I made a deconstructed version Roasted sweet potatoes, halved and heated on the Phillips grill while the Italian sausage cooked and topped with roasted balsamic onions with sage and a bit of watercress for color. The sweet potatoes, onions and sausage would have been a fine breakfast but I went ahead and added 2 crispy fried eggs.

I am not among them but there is a certain percentage of the US population who expect ketchup with any fried potato. Same goes for eggs - any eggs. Don't send them to Father's Office. Sang Yoon is opening his third location. Still no ketchup 🙃

When I was a kid, there was a restaurant that served Roy Rogers to my brothers and a Shirley Temple to me. Their Roy Rogers used cola instead of the ginger ale in the Shirley Temple.

I went searching through my junk mail folder to see if I'd gotten anything about this oven from Anova. I came upon a survey request from Emily at Steam & Bake who said: The email was sent on Dec 14 and by the time I found it, the survey had closed. I'm curious if anyone else saw this survey and wonder what sorts of questions she asked. Also, the fact that they were apparently still seeking input as late as last month makes me wonder how close to market they actually are with this device.

Just made myself a plate of "Scrambled Eggs à la @Anna N" for breakfast. Lovely and thank you! -
Went out to lunch with friends today. One of them ordered the Impossible Taco Salad: Very tasty. I wondered if it used the new Impossible Pork, but apparently it's been on the menu of this chain for some time - see here.

Thanks for all your enabling posts on this thread, @mgaretz - the sausages you shared back in this post were what pushed me over the edge! I wish you a most skillful surgeon, a smooth surgery and a rapid and uncomplicated recovery.

There are some grease spatters inside the unit. The tray in the bottom can be removed for cleaning or lined with foil. Thus far, I’ve been able to wipe spatters off the sides with a sponge. Not sure if they would eventually build up and be more problematic. But so far, easier to clean up than doing the whole stovetop!

I can search successfully for Bamix on Amazon but I also get the dogs when I click on @liuzhou's link. But I like the dogs so I’ve clicked multiple times! Edited to add that Clancy is my favorite so far!

Yes, but these are basically light bulbs and light bulbs usually have some sort of life span. It seems like 12 min to cook a sausage or a few vegetables is different from a couple of hours at a time for a fat chicken! But who knows? Maybe giving them an extend burn will actually lengthen their life span?

Does Jeff also take them back to be refilled?

Yeah, I think that's a fair price for it. The vendor shipped it out via FedEx the same day that I ordered so I ended up with 2-day delivery, even though they predicted longer. And it's new, as I hoped. I grilled another sausage today - it came out great and no spatters all over the stove. I will definitely be finding an accessible spot for this where I can pull it out for easy use. I certainly wouldn't pay MORE for that extra rack but when I ordered, $149 was the lowest price for a new unit. It's $159 for a new unit without the extra rack and $169 with no rack but a bonus cleaning tool. "Renewed" units as Amazon now calls them are $129, with or without the extra rack. The grill has been as low as $129, so if you want a rock bottom price, you could set up an alert on camelcamelcamel and hope it comes around again. I'm still dithering on the rotisserie but leaning against. It's still $79 on BB&B with a coupon. Not sure I will use it that much and I have some concerns about what impact long cooks like that would have on the overall lifespan of the grill.

That appears to be the case. The product itself is not to be found on their website, although it's possible to search and locate a few videos and announcements of the Indiegogo launch. -
My Philips grill (this one - with the extra rack) arrived today and an inaugural sausage was grilled to test it out. It was in the original packaging and I could find no evidence that it had been opened or used so I'm assuming it's new. Works fine.

For a while when I was a kid (that was a long time ago, too 🙃) we got bag-in-a-box milk. Kind of like boxed wine but bigger - I think it was 3 gallons or more - with the same sort of spout. Then there was an incident where one of my brothers broke the spout on a nearly full box resulting in gallons of milk all over the kitchen floor. So, we went back to cartons, delivered 3X/week by the same milkman who brought the box, deposited in an insulated box on the porch at some very early hour before any of us were up.

I agree with @patris on the app. There are a few more items than what’s on the little card but not much. And as far as using it to time a cook, I can tell Alexa to shut up faster than fiddling with my phone. -

Sure. I went back and added it. They are recommended sous vide temps, which I think are more informatively obtained elsewhere like Baldwin's site for safety or Kenji's articles on Serious Eats that show the results from a range of temps/times. -

On this little card that was included in the box There are probe temps on the other side that are recommended sous vide temps: -
I wonder the same thing. Per Philips: This grid accessory is especially suitable for grilling delicate ingredients such as vegetables and fish.

Coincidentally, yesterday afternoon, I used the Paragon + mat to make some little grilled cheese sandwiches and it worked very well. I used a bigger Darto pan, which sat securely on the mat, unlike the little one that was a bit tippy. I used the recommended setting of 350°F on rapid precise. Their cook time of 3 min/side was quite satisfactory. I don't normally cover the pan when I make grilled cheese but I did as told and used a silicone lid and it was still nice and crisp. The first 2 that I made with Manchego and balsamic roasted onions with sage on whole grain baguette slices were good enough that I made 2 more with fig butter and Rogue River Blue. -
It's quite possible. I'm hoping they got a good deal on a bundled product and are passing it on but something else could happen! The vendor describes themselves as, "an authorized dealer of new goods, certified refurbisher and reseller of high-end home and electronic products." They have 95% positive reviews on Amazon (only 450 some reviews though) but they have clearly stated policies, which some shady vendors skip. Some reviews mention concern about purchasing a refurbished item which made me think that the vendor would have disclosed that if it were the case. It was shipped yesterday (free, but not Prime shipping) and I'll report when it arrives.

Yeah, I wanted it as an induction cooker, something I have no experience with. The probe and mat are fun added things to play with. The mat lets me use a regular pan like an electric skillet, the probe should let it work as a little fryer, one that I can even use outdoors if I want. I can do both those things on my gas cooktop but it requires endless tweaking of the flame. I can see why it doesn't add much to a kitchen already equipped with an induction cooktop. -
Thanks for all the input! I decided to order the cheaper one that doesn't have the cleaning tool but does have the (apparently sticky) stainless grid. The rotisserie is $79.99 (assuming a 20% off coupon) at Bed, Bath & Beyond. I like the idea and the chicken that @lindag made looked wonderful but I think I'll hold off on that for a while.

I'm learning and I may be a slow learner but I'm not complaining of problems. Well, except that the manual really should have indicated that the sensor might need to be charged prior to use. That's a complaint 🙃
