    Dinner 2014 (Part 5)

Thank you EVERYONE so much for the birthday wishes. You guys are great Yeah.....I dunno why I didn't force him in to that chore....sigh..... Oh Zingerman's had a 6 flavor array that they sent! I've only tasted two so far--Michigan raspberry and vanilla. They also sent peanut butter, chocolate, mint chocolate and dulce de leche. Yeah, I'm pretty much in heaven

    Puntarelle

Looking at pictures on the internet, your puntarelle looks like what this blog describes. They agree with you that blanching would be the way to go......http://www.daveskitchen.com/recipes/puntarelle-chicory-from-paisley-farm/

    Dinner 2014 (Part 5)

'Twas my 40th birthday yesterday. I only cried a couple times lol. I decided I was going to treat myself to some of my favorite things to eat. Kumamoto oysters I swore I didn't want to have to cook/clean up, but I did it anyway. I'm sitting here looking at a sink full of dirty dishes, but it was worth it Cold smoked salmon, pimento cheese, caviar, oysters, shrimp and foie gras For dessert I ordered gelato from Zingerman's. I had never had gelato before. I liked it!
  5. Although a rice cooker is easy to use, it would be seen as very foreign to my Grandpa.
  6. Wine. Now you're talking my kind of drink
  7. Thanks, Jaymes, you've made my day I like knowing his freezer has some good stuff to eat in there.
  8. Venison chili Looks almost like the stew, but I swear it's chili
  9. I'm going to be worthless on that question too. My Grammy passed about a year and a half ago and after that Grandpa didn't eat very much at all. I think he's eating a bit bigger portions (or at least it sounds like it when he describes his meals to me) so I'm doing a bit bigger but still not the normal portion that most people would eat.
  10. I'd love to see a picture of the final dish
  11. Ohhhhhh those cookies....yum
  12. No wonder we haven't heard from Anna today!
  13. No, I don't have a tree, but if you can grow one down there, I'm sure I can up here......I wonder why no one does around here???? I must get busy and research.
  14. I don't know if I'm the norm, but I don't like to heat it in the microwave because mine gets sugar crystals. I fill up a bowl or my sink with hot water and put my honey container in there for a bit to get it runnier.
  15. *shrug* I just don't store it in there.
  16. I want a gosh dang watermelon peep. Right freaking now. *googling*
  17. Well, I've never had my fish sauce in there and I'm not dead yet I don't like my garden cukes cold.....but we eat the heck out of them so they don't last too long. I rarely buy them in the store.
  18. I never, ever, never, ever, never, never never put tomatoes in the fridge. Never. I don't care what anyone says, they taste funny if you do--funny as in ICKY. I don't put honey in the fridge because it makes it too hard. Let's see.....what else..... avocados onions zukes taters soy sauce fish sauce bread (if I can help it...but I do put it in sometimes) apples bananas I personally hate watermelon if it's cold That's all I can think of for now
  19. Venison stew which I stupidly forgot to put some zucchini in.

    Dinner 2014 (Part 5)

Now I want chili. Cornbread muffins on the side, Kim? I agree wholeheartedly about the toasted cheese vs. grilled cheese. Toasted makes it easier for the bread to soak up the soup

    Dinner 2014 (Part 5)

I love your homemade pizza peel, Ann--not to mention, such great looking pizza! Patrick, those mushrooms and those clams. Jealousy abounds. More teal again last night. This time done on the rotisserie.
  22. Sooooo what did they taste like???? Edited to add.....not the balls, the sprouts.....

    Dinner 2014 (Part 5)

I can't remember if I posted about this turkey or not. Our hunter friend that stays with us shot a turkey this past spring which we froze. When he stayed with us last week, my husband smoked it. I made some more sandwiches out of it last night. Great flavor, but wild turkey is dry. Baked beans and quickles on the side.
  24. I loved following along, Bobag87. I think you should document it every year here for us I wish I could sneak over with a plate and a fork!
  25. I liked it when I was a kid...but I just really don't care for it now. I know it's because of the canned soup taste. My step-daughter loves the stuff so someone always makes it for family dinners. I politely skip it.
