Yeah, that's why I wasn't sure if my method would help. I get confused about rice, too. I am out of my Uncle Ben's at the moment but I'm pretty sure it says converted on the box...and I honestly don't know what converted means in that context. And I'm not 100% sure it says that. Yeah, I'm helpful lol.

No, I do it right in the main pot.

I don't know if this will help you or not. I use the plain Uncle Ben's white rice. I do 1 1/2 cups of water with 1 cup of rice. Eight minutes on high pressure. Quick release.

My mother-in-law just got out of the hospital and they sent her home with a gift. A HUGE head cold. She feels and sounds terrible. So, last night I made a huge pot of chicken and noodle soup with lots of rich homemade broth. I used half chicken and half turkey (broth). Hopefully it makes her feel a little better. Oh, so, I had a little bowl of that for dinner.

Ronnie cold smoked some ribs yesterday so I could re-stock the freezer. Finished in the IP and then under the broiler in the CSO. He also threw in some country ham...OH it's good. It's good anyway, but now I have some with a smokey flavor

I've been wondering what your set-up was going to be. Thanks for sharing

100% guarantee you would find the same thing behind my kitchen cabinet. We would have had to cut a hole in the cabinet to get to it. Sigh.

DAMN IT, KAY! I was sitting here feeling oh so smug because I already have the book by Laurie Colwin and I wouldn't have to succumb to buying anything. Then you post this. Now I've bought the butchering book. Sigh.

You are NOT alone. I'll add that I think under my fridge is also not a pretty sight.

I always love it when I find out about a new online food place to shop. This one looks right up my alley. Has anyone tried their fresh pasta? I have ordered quite a bit from igourmet in the past. Their cheeses always come in a cute little soft cooler (well they used to, dunno if they do now) and everything was nice and cold still. Also have gotten quite a few things from Zingerman's. Alway reliable and good.

Wow, they are sure working fast. What kind of floor are you putting in or did I miss that upthread? @Jacksoup I really like that backsplash. I am doing a bathroom/bedroom remodel as we speak. I might need your son to inspect it!

Had to have fish after seeing @HungryChris 's --fried up some shrimp that needed to be used, too. And oysters. Was going to make Oysters Rockefeller.....but I suffered an attack of laziness. Plus they are so good just plain as they are.

I'll trade you catfish for some of your mix I'll be on the look-out for this. Thanks!

@HungryChris Unless I get too lazy, you've inspired me to thaw out some catfish for tonight. Can you share how you make your batter? Is it a beer batter?

Your kitchen is sure pretty even before the reno! I can't wait to see the progress

I think about this quite often as I'm going through my grammy's recipes. I don't have kids so it's not relevant to me, but for others I wonder if their children will miss seeing their loved ones hand written recipe cards....or maybe I'm just a sentimental sap.

So, you'd go for a longer time?

EIGHT DAYS? Girl, you are a better person than I am. I don't know if I could have survived that. No offense to my in-laws....I couldn't handle anyone staying with me for that long.
