Week in coastal Central Vietnam foodblog
Shelby replied to a topic in Elsewhere in Asia/Pacific: Dining
Kenneth!! I just now saw this!!! I hope you're having the best time ever. Everything looks fabulous...the food...the views...just everything. When you get a minute could you tell us more about the deep fried pork bread? -
Kind of. I use my mandolin to make super thin slices and then I sprinkle each slice with salt and fresh lemon juice. Let it marinate at least 4 hours. Very fresh tasting. We love them. If I'm really going all out I roll them up like I did above and drizzle them with a little smoked olive oil and finish with some parsley or basil sprinkled on top. I was too lazy yesterday to do that lol..

I don't think I could have stayed out of the coconut chocolate bread. I thought you were already playing around with some scallops this morning....until I read that they were marshmallows

Hi Helen! If I recall, you are in Asia somewhere???? I will have at least 3 more months of squash to eat. I bump this thread every year because it inspires me and people always add new ideas How long did you fry your stuffed zucchini? Did you do it in oil?

Kay, your tomatoes look SO good! My pickage has looked like this for about a week and half now. Green beans, squash, zucchini, a couple cucumbers (not enough to start a batch pickling though.....I'm down to 3 cuke plants so I'm hoping I get enough) a few cherry tomatoes, and an onion or two. Lettuce is starting to bolt. I'm going to miss having it. But, hopefully the tomatoes will make up for it I have one plant that looks wilty and the leaves have rust spots. I'm hoping what ever it is doesn't spread to the others. \\ Anyone ever grown artichokes? My plants look like this now....they don't seem to be growing very fast.....is this normal? Annnnd, I went over to our pumpkin area the other day and discovered there are also zucchini and watermelon interspersed amongst the pumpkins. And also these: They are not yellow squash. Maybe a pumpkin and a zucchini crossed?

@cyalexa's hotdog buns. I always get a craving for hotdogs after I watch the Nathan's Hotdog eating contest on the 4th of July.

I love summer for many reasons but close to the top of the list is just having little tidbits like this from the garden to munch on before dinner ribs last night

*settling in* It's not too far away from cocktail hour. What will it be today? I remember you left some interesting things up there so you could dive right into a drink without having to unpack too much right?
