    Corked Wine

"no longer welcome back!?!?!?!" how about "i'll never spend a dime in your f*cking store again and i'll make sure everyone i know or speak to knows the name." what's the name of the f*cking store anywho?

    Corked Wine

i can only hope that they finished the corked bottle in front of you.
  3. plots, i think his third paragraph pretty much covers that issue.
  4. nice passage fat guy. i tip 20% pretty much all of the tip because the math is nice and easy. it pains me to see people pull out calculators, to either save themselves a dollar thirty or to punish the sever by the same amount.
  5. i don't know that there's necessarily a direct correlation between the two. i'd be interested in hearing others people's opinions regarding this and restaurants in NYC.
  6. ah. for me that narrows it down considerably.
  7. find it. i don't think you can.
  8. so what you're saying, adam, is that it's all in the head.
  9. that is not my contention. but if you want to say it is then there's probably not much i can do about it.
  10. If this example was correct, the employers would be tipping their staff for good service why? it's clearly stated here that it's "not much different". so yes, it *is* different. so if you want to make the argument that the difference is the that the customer gives the "bonus" instead of the employer, then it's a completely reasonable example.
  11. what types of mexican cuisine include cheese anywhere near the amount or with the ubiquitousness that we find at most of these places? Oaxaca? Yucatan? i honest don't know much about the cuisines of mexico, but i've been tempted to read up on it so i can know for sure about this cheese issue.
  12. a lot of tax rules, as well as employer-employee regulations, apply to businesses with ranges like 2-50 employees. most leave off the one employee scenario, presumably to make self-employed and people who employee a nanny for example exempt from rules that were made to benefit or regulate "real" businesses. so, you can smoke crack around your nanny and that's just dandy. good thing that.
  13. i really don't think this is the case in most of the better, or even decent, places in and around NYC (which is where i eat most of my meals).
  14. 201, you are helpful as always. thanks. and thanks to you too rachel.
  15. seated? no, not at starbucks. McDonalds: i've never received exceptional service, and don't expect that i will. post office: see above. "full service" gas stations: i often tip my local guy, especially if i receive good service. flight attendants: i think the airlines frown upon that. plus, they probably make more money than i do. sandwich makers at the deli counter: yup. i often tip if i receive good service. drive through clerks: i rarely deal with drive-through clerks of any sort. to answer your question, my criteria is "exceptional service". of course, i could define this, but i think you are smart enough to come up with a reasonable definition that is probably in line with mine. and, of course, my definition could be completely different than yours. thanks.
  16. what is the place up in wycoff? blue moon?? isn't it a "chain" of some sort? i think i remember a perlow talking about it somewhere. is it any good?
  17. is that the place that looks like a little house? right by the overpass thingy?
  18. that seems like another thread altogether. i am one who doesn't care if the chef is there (at places like babbo anyway). although, mario does seem to do a fair amount of "cooking" and he does seem to be involved, i wouldn't say that his approach is common as far as head chefs go.
  19. it's, um, humorous. that is not subjective.
  20. i was just wondering if mission had mole. and you're probably right about the cheese issue. my god i'm straving.
  21. i wouldn't. that stuff tastes like butterscotch or caramel to me. does nothing for me. does anyone really serve that dish any more? i'm pretty sure leo's in hoboken still does, but they have an excuse, as they probably haven't changed their menu for 70 years, and make no apologizies for it.
  22. that's a strange barometer. the whole seated thing. the kids at the starbucks (well, actually it's that other place whose name escapes me) see me in line and prepare my drink before i even get up to order. they save me some time and frustration, so the 20 cents is a "thank you" for being human and having some common sense. certainly the 20 cents isn't a lot to me, and it's not to them, but if 200 people a day left 20 cents, that would be, like, a lot of money or something. and of course, rewarding kids for being smart and working hard, whether it be at starbucks or applebees, helps the world become a better place. and i'm all about living in a better place.
  23. i don't think mission burrito has mole or adobado. thereuare, do you know otherwise?
