  1. I wish I'd known about this dinner sooner. It sounds like it was lovely. I see he's also planning a France trip... hmmmm
  2. hmm sounds like 727 is shoving old fish off on the $25 diners. tacky, tacky. hey nightscotsman, I'm in for E&O the 27th @ 7pm.
  3. I'd be into doing Earth & Ocean the last week of the deal. I'm out of town till Monday night, so any night after that is fine by me.
  4. ah, interesting... I also must thank Nightscotsman for those wonderful little treats he handed out to us. MAN those were good. What are they called again?
  5. klink, you simply MUST go to the Georgian while they are doing the $25 menu. The pork dish (Sarah Joe's Cracklin' Pork Bellies) is SOOOO up your alley...
  6. excellent Maggie! Me too, I'm sending to all my girlfriends

    Maple syrup...

I'm so glad I'm not the only one... I adore the stuff... I've made all varieties of maple desserts. Maple Walnut cake is one of my faves. maple in the cake, maple in the frosting... its a maple syrup orgy. OH and maple syrup pie. SOOO good.
  8. There's also some good "out of the way" joints that seem to combine great food/great nature: At the north end of Long Beach you'll find The Ark, also down that way you'll find The Shoalwater. Up north on Vancouver Island there's Sooke Harbor House.
  9. in fact... has anyone found anywhere that makes cinnamon rolls that even come close to Cool Hand Luke's?! I can't even make them at home that good... Who was their pastry chef? Where did they go?!?
  10. I've eaten at Dulce's, but its been ages. What I remember is that the appetizer was excellent, the dessert was excellent, but the entree was found wanting. I do remember dessert was a really knocked out coconut cake... Raise your hand if you miss Cool Hand Luke's... and their legendary cinnamon rolls... and their breakfasts... *sigh* (CHL's used to be where St Cloud's is now)

    Sweet Wines

YES YES yes! I have some of the 2000 and 2001 Domaine de Durban Muscat Beaumes de Venise and I think this is a marvelous sweet wine. Affordable too!! I think this is a wine to drink now because I would think that subtle lavender flavor would fade with age. A tasty, tasty wine. In fact, I'm making a cake today that uses this same wine instead of milk or water as its liquid.
  12. well ok then! expect me there, and I'll dress, um, nicely. I guess. we'll see, I'll dig through my closet this weekend
  13. ack! where did you go guajolote? If I'd seen this thread I would have sent you to Las Cazuelas. Last time I was there they were doing rose petal sauce... talk about *drool* it was magnificent. clickity here for more
  14. I would be!! any night but monday... I agree, the menu sounds fabulous, and I've never been there. they have a dress code dont' they?

    French Beer

I've had the 3 Monts. Lovely stuff.
  16. That right there makes me wanna cry...
  17. Remember though that the 25 for $25 is good only Sunday thru Thursday. Fri and Sat are excluded. Hope you have a fine time in Seattle ;-) Hey, Cafe Campagne isn't on the list!
  18. I like your list, NSM. all places I've never been except for Nishino. geez, the Georgian Room is participating?!
  19. And as someone who has had pizza from that very same oven, and another egulleteers back yard oven (ReallyNice where are you?) It is, without a doubt, the best pizza I've ever had anywhere. And yes, I've had pizza in Italy (which was excellent). The temp makes a huge difference. The pizzas cook in just a few minutes and are crispy, thin, incredibly good. my fave topping: break an egg on the dough, add red onion, some creme fraiche and some caviar. pull out of oven when egg yolk is still runny. This was an epiphany pizza.
  20. girlchow, I am honored to be quoted by you
  21. you know I would be really into going here again. I've only been once and I feel like I didn't get to give it a fair shake. I liked what I had, but I was at a table full of whiners... :-/ I'd love to go back and do just tapas.
  22. its because the bacon is sliced *too* thick. My absolute fave is Hempler's because of the flavor, BUT in my humble opinion, they slice it too thick. I'm one of those rare people who like it sliced thin, that way I can get it crispy!! OH and who here hates flubbery bacon?? I can't imagine eating it still flubbery! Its a crime against baconry! It MUST be crisp!
  23. thanks for your review. I'd say that's pretty high praise considering everywhere else you've been... !!
  24. TMI in a thread by and for women?! tsk tsk on your whisk Simon. Day 24 cravings: FRENCH FRIES nothing is so good as french fries at that time, bacon cheeseburgers, carbs & fat, pretty much. Really don't crave sweets that much. Only rarely. And if I do it would be in the form of fried dough, aka donuts. there's a small gelateria by my house that makes killer donuts (krispy kreme ain't got nothin' on these) mmm they make ones that have lemon peel in the glaze... mmmm
  25. What about Cascioppo Brothers? Out in Ballard, next to Larsen's Bakery. (I think its Larsen's) Don't they have pastrami?
