I'd love to have a person from Gate Gourmet or whoever tell us how stuff is done pre flight. It clearly make a difference who does it . The kitchen in PHL is careless and serves mostly crap. Others are much better.

That beef looks like it was cooked sous vide or in some magic cvap oven.

It’ll be just me and Henry this year. So, at a minimum, dog biscuits will be served.

@robirdstx How many people would your goose serve for dinner? Remember what the bird weighed?

Recent Amsterdam flight on AA. Food out of PHL was vile, even though it was "by a celebrity chef". No photos. Return was actually good. Tenderloin that was a real MR...cheesy potatoes...spinach.

In the early days of SV probes were stuck through the plastic back with a self sealing foam tape. Sort of like what you use on a door to keep out the wind. I have stuck in a long probe through the end of an unsealed bag that is clamped to the water bath. Works nicely too. But I REALLY want this meater thingy.

And be quick about it!

Of course!

Its a size we all have several of and many baking dishes are about that size and neither fits in the Cuisinart Steam Oven. Not a huge problem, but if it could be avoided...

NICE. Any idea how thick the breast was?

That’s been the conjecture here. Their website has listed it as discontinued. Perhaps they are planning one with a microwave that will fit a 1/4 sheet pan!
-
True, but compared to how your target customer cooks a steak, this 2 degree variance is probably an improvement. I question whether the microwave addict would see the need for this unit. They are almost the definition of a non-cook, contentedly unaware of all that goes into cooking. The Instant Pot hit that demographic; I'm not sure that this does. Perhaps with serious marketing. Does your company have an opinion on why Cuisinart seems to be backing away from the steam oven?

Can you really steam at less than 100C? Wouldn't it just condense?

Intelligence is a useful word for what plants are up to. Not intelligence in the thinking sense, they do not think, but intelligence in the military sense...as in "where's the invader?". The plant networks seem to coordinate response to infection and infestation, giving the plants half a chance against attack. A lot of plant resistance is genetically determined, but activation of the network ups the level of defense molecules in the group.

Holiday gifts. What food/drink related gifts did you get?

Charcuterie and cheese from my son. -
Plants responding to stimuli is not "feeling". Feeling requires being connected to a brain that interprets a stimulus as painful. If there's no brain (or no connection) then pain doesn't exist. Paraplegics feel no pain in the affected limbs because there's no connection. Plants feel no pain because there's no brain.

Yup. And celery has lots of nitrates too. Cured meat sometimes says "no nitrates added" and then has a ton of celery extract.

I love it when a friend says she can't eat MSG but will scarf doritos all day long with no ill effects.
