Pan-Mediterranean tapas. Due to open in October. PM me, attaching the friend's resume/CV if possible, and I will distribute it as best I can. ← Thanks!

What's the story with Extra Virgin? I have a friend who recently moved to KC and is looking for work. She's a veteran of the business but has no connections out there. thanks

Click On Me ← I believe the term is now reserved for tourists wearing Hawaiian shirts or sweaters with teddy bears on them

I grabbed lunch there on a Saturday - french onion soup, pork pate, and Moules Frites - all were quite good for lunchtime fare. I was tempted to get a Tourtiere but was saving myself for a big dinner.
-
Thanks for the info - Work has been so busy lately, my Toronto trips have been cut in half. My meal planning has to be as efficient as possible

Pho Duang Dong opens at 10:00 on Saturdays - I hit it for Bahn Mi's every other weekend when venturing from the Farmer's Market downtown to my favorite italian bakery in the burbs. I think the hours are Thurs-Sun.

You're about the Vin Santo - last time I purchased some was 10 years ago at 18.00 a bottle. Thinking Moscato or Moscadello di Montalcino

My visit was around new year. Could not fault the combination of service, style and cooking. They had fresh bluefin which we had tartare - But the amuse was using the bluefin... enough care was taken to ensure the people ordering tartare had alternative amuse's. Rest of the meal was balanced, well cooked and presented. I still rank it as the best I have had in TO. ← Compared to meals eaten where?

I always hear lots of mixed reviews regarding Splendido. Just when I seem to get a predominantly positive feeling - you get a review like this So where does everyone stand currently

Not sure when you were last at Le Papillon but I was there in Feb? - not sure exact date...but sure I could not advise any to go there... ← Thanks for the heads up - I trust his ethnic palate but we argue about everything else.

use a Royal Tokaji in place of the Vin Santo. You can find good ones for 10-15 a half bottle (although you can find cheap Vin Santo's for about the same price) Maybe a Domestic Ice Wine (not a Canadian) as they are not frozen on the vine and a third of the price.

The Best Steak Frites I've had were at Jamie Kennedy Wine Bar. I have a friend that swears by Le Papillon ( I can only vouch for their Moules Frites)

It’s funny how she used to bring that notebook up after she went shoe shopping. After about an hour of reading – I realized I should have much more money in my 401K than I do.

Gordon...do you post on Ebob...QPR seems to be a classic call sign for those who do. EmaTei at 30 Saint Patrick Street is about 5 minutes or so. I agree with the others noted. The One a little further up, almost at Yonge and Gerrard for Thai is also pretty good and cheap and also Golden Thai www.goldenthai.ca is pretty close. ← Hardly post on EBob but I consider myself a bit of a wino.

QPR? ← Quality in comparison to Price Ratio
-
Head over to Chinatown - Also check out Jules on Spadina/Queen for some decent Bistro style cooking. Jamie Kennedy Wine bar has the best QPR for your dining dollar in the city. Pizzas at Terroni on Yonge.

Don't kid yourself - depending on the volume - nothing pleases management more than accurate inventory control.

Had it at in a similar circumstance (anniversary dinner) An off bottle from what I remember - dark and oxidized, lacking that D'Yquem dehydrated fruit but lots of botrytis. The 60 Lafite and Ausone were delicious.

There is a decent place on the lower hill. Quite large with a huge wrap around, open balcony. I can never remember the name and I'm sure it's changed more than a few times. It's in Victoria Park on the niagara parkway. It's decent at best but the view is worth it.

Was at the Scott Osborn's tasting last night in Rochester - hence....Lemberger

Lemberger...it's not just for breakfast anymore

Good stuff, doesn't look like the normal roll (or at least the ones I've had) I've seen trucks unloading at local Asian markets, boxes of baguettes from a Canadian bakery. Maybe no shipment that day.

Spray with Bleche-White (automotive white wall cleaner) and scrub the tough stains - works like a charm.
