Maybe so, Raoul ; I think Murray would have a nervous breakdown if 13 went off ! Poor guy was tormented for about a month by a microwave that would be randomly, in the middle of the night, whatever. He'd sit outside, shivering, to get away from that nasty microwave ! I wonder what kind of kitchen trauma happeed to him in his puppyhood ?

Peggy~ I never knew there were different types. This one must detect heat, which is worse !
-
Well, unfortunately, this is going off with the front door and kitchen door open, and the vent fan on. Thanks for the suggestion, tho.

Well, the house has several, so maybe I'll just pull the batteries out of this one. I am glad to hear I am not alone (why? That's SICK !) and cannot imagine climbing up a ladder to put a shower cap over the damned thing every time we want to make toast.....

I don't know if this is the place to post or not but............ I am in a new house, and have a smoke alarm in the hallway outside the kitchen that is going off every time I have the oven above 350' (or so). fine, as long as it is closed but when you take something out of the oven, (no smoke mind you, just heat) about a minute later it is shrieking. We made toast in the toaster oven this weekend......THAT set it off ! I am ready to disable it, which I know would be stupid, but tonight I made biscuits (425') and the dog spent 1/2 hour outside in the rain because he was so flippin' scared ! (He's a little nervous....) can I decrease the sensitivity? K

Thank you so very much for your explanation. It is very helpful for me, a home cook. BB Hollandaise sounds right up my alley

I leave the skin on my onion when I make chicken broth and it gives it a more yellowish color.

I've never made crackers before but find when I am eating Low carb that I just need that crunch. Found this Low Carb recipe that I really like a lot (with my adjustments, of course ! ) SESAME ALMOND CRACKERS 3 ounces almond flour, 3/4 cup 1 egg white 3/8 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder 1/8 teaspoon onion powder 2-3 teaspoons white or black sesame seeds 1/4 cup flaxmeal Mix all of the ingredients well in a small bowl. Roll each piece of dough into a ball and squish on parchment paper. Prick them with a fork. Bake at 325º for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Makes 24 crackers Can be frozen Per Cracker: 23 Calories; 2g Fat; 1g Protein; 1g Carbohydrate; trace Dietary Fiber; .5g Net Carbs

Pierogi~ I'm in Central CA and found it listed at 9:30 AM on Saturdays here. Try checking that. Of course, I didn't find it until today , not that it matters since my Saturday mornings are rarely spent watching TV !

For those of you who check to see if you are staying in ketosis, how do you respond to the Dreamfield's pasta? I got some and tried it last night; like it quite a bit and love the 5 gms of carbs thing. Sometimes I just need that texture with saucy meat, so I can imagine eating very small potions on occasion. What I am reading , tho, leads me to believe that most people are using it as a rare treat. Why, if it is only 5 carbs? Thanks for helping me understand.

I love logic games but don't know this one. Point me in the right direction? I also had hoped to use the Buddha/enlightenment for a sig. GREAT comment ! For all, I am loving this blog, and obviously I'm not the only one Keep up the great work. (FWIW, there are many times that I REALLY miss the NE... Philly/Boston. After 27 years in CA, which I love/hate , don't know that I could go back but I sure need to visit !) K -
Reading is fundamental! ← Forgive me, but it seems like in reading the thread there were many suggestions other than cauliflower alone. Don't be snippy.

Thanks ! How did the low carb tortillas react?

Stephanie~ Do you use those little pee strips to gauge ketosis? It really matters? K

I love Trader Joe's bagged greens....they are convenient and lower cost than the supermarkets. Even have "Chard of Many Colors". I always wash them again , tho.

Speaking of low carb, no pix ( cause it wasn't really pretty).... I crockpot roasted some turkey thighs and took one thigh and the juices, added water, carrots, celery and sauteed mushrooms, a little cumin and Meyer lemon juice and made soup. Threw in a little parsley. So good. I love my crockpot.
