  1. John~ That is really good info. I automatically shift+delete most of them 'cause they seem so.....smarmy. That having been said, I really wish he would come back and do "Taste" again. I might watch TV. (Altho I AM looking forward to the new Top Chef ---guilty pleasure ) K
  2. Awwww........ I want a rescue greyhound. I'd feed her fish (occasionally). My dogs (not greyhounds) would love FOF. However, the only thing I have seen that dilated my girl dog's pupils (that she had NEVER seen before) was a fresh hot glazed Krispy Kreme donut ! Of course, I've not brought a fresh FOF into the house, either. Might be an experiment worth doing. I come away from this thread with two guiding principals: 1. If you cannot get it right out of the fryer, don't bother. 2. Price point: Lenten Friday special: $1.29 Any more may well be too much to pay. K
  3. viva~ You have left over WINE ????
  4. or amazon.com for their used books.
  5. chappie~ it all sounds good. Question....why do you think there is yeast in the oyster cracker recipe?
  6. pennylane~ I'd start at the bottom and work my way up !
  7. That is disappointing. I tried one on Friday (hadn't had one in years) and it was pretty darned good but........... I always ask for no cheese and I THINK I get them made to order that way. My fish definitely wasn't in a holding bin 'cause I had to wait 5 minutes for it to be done ! Way hot and crispy, soft (salty?) bun, uninspiring tartar sauce. All for $1.29 (Friday/Lenten special). Don't know that I'd do it for $2.89.
  8. Not entirely. I was a member for a year or so, got the magazine (meh) and I think I was sent one thing to test (a little plastic storage container, if I remember correctly). The magazine wasn't good enough for me to keep subscribing, so that was it.
  9. Long ago I spent some time at Bucknell University that is in the heart of Amish country. One of my favorite Amish foods was simply apple butter spread on homemade white bread with schmierkase, which is a type of dry curd cottage cheese. A delicious breakfast
  10. Can you post a link to one? (Maybe one n English...??) That sounds AMAZING.
  11. Amateur here. I too have a friend like this. The bone presents too stark a realization of the source. She would rather not think about it. ← My brother-in-law has a rule for animal products: "It cannot look like what it is." Period.
  12. this looks really cool. Thanks for the heads up ! I just sent out an email to all my family for recipe requests.........let's see what I get back.
  13. prawncrackers~ can you elaborate on what you'd do with the poached chicken?
  14. I've never found one that wasn't gritty and ixky. The question is, why are we eating whole wheat pasta? To try to increase our intake of whole grains? I'd rather eat Dreamfield's Low Carb pasta (which tastes fine and has decent texture) and supplement it with good whole wheat bread !

Oh boy, have YOU come to the right place ! You'll find that pork is one of egullet's favorite topics You might start HERE, which is simply the topic search for "pork". Allow yourself some time, there is a lot of info there ! Once you browse the topics, you can narrow it down to specifically what you are looking for. Good luck, and welcome.

    Preserved Lemons

Chris~ I LOVE the Ming Tsai's Polenta with Preserved Lemons and Ginger. I make it a lot But I also like chopping it really fine and tossing it with some browned butter on asparagus (and sometimes just nibbling on it....)
  18. OK, we should try it with lamb. Rachel, you're up !
  19. Our friend from Trinidad orders Trinidad Seasoning and Trinidad Perfume plants from Cross Country Nurseries every spring. They sell plants rather than seeds. Good luck! ETA: Whoops, just realized that a U.S. source might not work for you. Sorry. ← Bruce~ Thanks for the link to this site, it is awesome (and will ship to CA !) I love the fact that the charts are sortable.
