    Androuet

We had lunch two times at Androuet(25 years ago). It was unlike any other meal we've ever had. Cart after cart of cheese. It lead us to looking at cheese in a different way. We had hoped to be able to eat there again next year and was disapointed when reading this. Actually if I remember my reading, it may have closed once before and then reopened?
  2. Very interesting, we are considering driving from Lyon to Paris this April. We've been told everthing from no way to great idea. We are hoping to stop and dine at smaller (more local) places along the way. I have only done a little looking at our sites, and a little at some French sites, but my French is not up to understanding many of them. This looks great, and I hope to see more. Also if anyone knowes of some places that offer rooms as well as dining the information would be welcomed. We find a mixture of small Bed and Breakfast style places - that rent a room or two and provide local food and HYatt type hotels and famous names more fun than just one or the other. Thanks!
  3. the 1st post katrina jazz funeral has been held in Chief Austin Leslie's honor.. There are a few pictures at NOLA.com
  4. Wine Cellar in the Sky(did I remember the name) inside Windows was my 1st experience with wines and foods being matched. Such fond memories mixed with such sad ones of 911. I also have memories of Horn and Hardart, we would take the train into the "CITY", go to a museum or a play and than stop at the Automat. Also I asked my husband who is in NY right now to see if Mrs Stahl's knishes was still around and found on a post today that it isn't.-Do cherrycheese knishes still exist somewhere? There used to be an Indian place on Central Park South-you could see the central park skating ring-I remember the pleasure of dinner there-but could not seem to find it when looking up places for his trip, guess its also a fond memory.
  5. Sorry to hear about your computer. Glad to read another of your reviews.
  6. I had dinner there in February. We shared multiple dishes to create our meal and the kitchen was wonderful about splitting them. The staff suggestions were excellent. Wine is available by half glasses, which they matched to our food-- sort of a "Tasting Menu" of our choices. We picked two or three choices for each course and than asked our staff what they thought about them and then made our choices. The short ribs and the dessert were the highlights of a wonderful meal. Dessert was Pineapple Three(?) ways. I remember sorbet and grilled, prehaps Nightscotsman can help with the rest, it was better than dessert at Prime, or Le Cirque. We are thinking about having lunch there on our next trip in June. As usual the Belligio web site has menu information. I wish some of the other hotels had as much information at their sites.
  7. Add me to the "Great Job " group. My kids bought the book for me last year, but I have not tried cooking anything. I may try the tart - you're picture made me hungry for it. I'm drinking tea as I read this and it would go so well.
  8. Everything bagel and butter(lots of it) Stick pretzels, swirl in mound of butter, sometimes garlic butter and, do the same with thin crunchy breadsticks. (my cholesterol is rising just reading this thread)
  9. We've cruised with RC a few times in the last few years. I noted that the same dishes appear on the different ships. Had garlic soup twice that was pretty bad, then the next ship it was wonderful. The food on that sailing was frequently better than our local restaurants and of course if your dining partners chose better you can change! On another cruise, the main courses tended to be poor and we started ordering the "spa" main course, Lightly sauteed fish and vegies that were great. I feel that if you're flexible about what you choose you can eat very well on today's ships. When our last RC chef gave cooking demo's his love of food was obvious when listening to him then or speaking with him, while on a previus cruise that chef acted like he didn't really want to be there and the level of the food and service was lower. Enjoy!
  10. we bought the truffles and my friend in Tx got a few other of the CM line items last time we visited her and she said they were generally good. My spouse who rarely likes to pay more was eating a salad Mon. night with the stuff we had gotten the weekend before and remarked upon how much better it was than the local stuff.
  11. alienor yes, I'd like your recipe for choc nut cake. Thanks. No time to let the bread rise. Now we worry about ice cream makers and George formans for Passover ::
  12. we are also going in June. Looking forward to lunch!! Which places will be open? Red 8? Only the casual places or will some of the more formal places also be open? weekends maybe? This is somewhat offtopic but sensi and crico are great for lunch and I hope there are similar places open at Wynn.
