Purely a home cook—no industry experience beyond one distant collegiate summer slinging cheesesteaks from a flat top. Once I had a passion for forcemeats and terrines, but acquiring the disease of kings in middle age has led me to leaner pursuits. There's as much pleasure to be found in a nicely steamed fish as in an elaborate ballottine, or so I keep telling myself.
I’m fortunate to have a nice sized plot in one of Portland’s community gardens, so from summertime into autumn there’s an awful lot of fresh produce to cook my way through. I know it must be possible to OD on gazpacho and ratatouille, but I seem to have a very high tolerance 😀.
