  1. Famous Deli on Krewstown Rd makes good whitefish salad. So does Wegman's in Cherry Hill.
  2. Roselena's on Passyunk Ave.
  3. Multiple outlet but not the big guys! ← Steve's Prince of Steaks. I had a cheesesteak at the Boulevard location yesterday, and it was terrific. You must get to Nick's Original Roast Beef at 20th and Jackson St. The best roast beef sandwich in the city, and they have a second location in Springfield, Delaware County. This topic could support its own thread.
  4. it is amazing we are not all 400 pounds.
  5. Ya know , I wasnt gonna mention that, but Popeye's is a serious weakness for me, and a lot easier to get than any soul food version in Philly. That is some damn fine fried chicken. ← I have a weakness for that as well, with their red beans and rice as a side.
  6. Crown Fried Chicken on Germantown Ave.
  7. Osteria, Ansill, Vetri and Amada are my fantastic 4. The Friday night thing is significant - if you are going between now and January, Vetri is likely out. I would recommend Ansill. http://ansillfoodandwine.com/
  8. Duffield's in Washington Twp (South Jersey) had 15 varieties, I believe one was blue. http://www.duffieldsfarm.com/
  9. I am so there for the pork belly sandwich.
  10. I went to the one in Woodbury NJ one time (my boss at the time was from out of the area and made the choice) and it was horrendous. So much money spent on the glossy multipage menu, so little spent on the ingredients...
  11. From what I have read, Isgro and Termini are positioning themselves as small neighborhood bakers, yet demand for their products during the holidays forces them to make cannoli shells 6 WEEKS in advance of sale - not possible unless they use the unhealthy trans-fats. I am unsympathetic to their plight. Revert to the old recipes that made them an institution; accept that the true small batch baker does not pull something off the shelf made weeks in advance.
  12. I use OpenTable regularly. No getting put on hold by a harried hostess, make a reservation at any time regardless of the restaurant's hours, and you get points that can be converted to dining dollars. A regular is a regular, easily identified whether the reservation is made over the phone or online.
  13. old friends. I guess I liked the sign more than they did when the time came to take the pictures off the walls.
  14. The Francesco family that owned Emil's had a claim to the origination of the hoagie. I have the wooden sign from the family's Italian market stall (back in the 40's, way before the Broad and Moore shop) hanging on my kitchen wall.
  15. Emil's at Broad and Moore made this as well, and it was awesome.
  16. you have a better shot getting recommendations on the PA board. This board is all about N. Jersey.
  17. Take him to The Prime Rib, and he can get...prime rib.
  18. I must agree with you here! ← I have to disagree with both of you. Restaurants screw up the supposedly "easy" all the time. Simple ingredients, done correctly, can be extraordinary - including the lowly meatball sandwich. It is true anyone can make a meatball sandwich. How many places make a meatball sandwich worthy of a special trip? There are "destination" cheesesteak and roast pork purveyors. Why not a destination meatball? For the record, I don't know what a paco jet is. I can't make anything on Szechuan Tasty House's menu. Does that mean I am not qualified to express an opinion on what I eat?
  19. have you tried it, or just assuming it is good?
  20. Lou and Ann's on Rt. 70 in Cherry Hill east of Brace Rd. is the best I have tried, and I have tried many. Sarcone's has opened recently very close to their location, and I find I prefer Lou and Ann's rolls, sandwiches, and prepared foods to any of Sarcone's offerings (with the exception of pizza...only because Lou and Ann's doesn't make pizza).
  21. Thanks! I just PMed you. ← I emailed your contact info to Frank, also asked him to give your info to Bonnie at Heartland.
  22. I also know a Heartland rep. PM me your phone number and I will put you in touch...
  23. http://www.usapaynj.com/ USA Payroll can handle all your payroll tax reporting, etc. Ask for Frank Fiannaca.
  24. a review without bells is still a review. that one reads like a 4 dinger.
