  1. Criniti's, La Stanza at 20th and Oregon (has a parking lot, terrific food), L'Angolo, Popi's, Pesto, Bomb Bomb or Scannichio's are all good, and are all within 5 minutes of the ballpark.
  2. Don't know about your Chengdu 1 , but mine delivers. So happy...
  3. Spicy Baby Wontons and Braised Lamb Filets in Chili Sauce are my favorites so far. Double Cooked Pork was very good as well.
  4. not too far over the bridge in Glassboro... http://forums.egullet.org/index.php?showtopic=104152&st=0 http://www.chengdu1nj.com
  5. Braised Lamb Filets w/ chile sauce is the best tried so far...
  6. the spicy lamb is terrific, but the beef tendon did not have much flavor...I will pass on that next time in favor of ants on a tree.
  7. The spicy baby wonton, double cooked pork, and salt and pepper squid were all very good. Next visit, the beef tendon and Ox Tongue appetizers with one of the lamb dishes...
  8. They just opened a Chengdu1 in Glassboro, about 10 minutes from my house. I had some leftover cold spicy chicken last night, now I can't wait to go and choose my own dishes tonight...
  9. Sorry - I don't care how good brunch is, or how nice the owners may be - there is now a virtual picket line in front of the door that I just won't cross (and I love grilled meats). That policy of collecting their workers' tips for "renovations" is just wrong.
  10. Rick Nichols showed the restaurant much love recently, and discussed the outdoor grill plans here.
  11. Very weak defense, IMO. Better to apologize and change the policy going forward, before bad press and outrage spread.
  12. On the Black Horse Park, spanning Washington Township and Blackwood you have Meloni's Butcher Block, Aversa's Bakery, Cacia's Bakery, Alfred's Tomato Pies, and Dad's Stuffings. Dad's and Meloni's are top quality butchers in addition to offering some of the finest prepared to cook at home entrees on the planet. Cacia's has the breads and pizzas that made the South Philly store famous, and Alfred's is regularly mentioned in the same breath as Delorenzo's tomato pies. Aversa's Bakery also has excellent prepared foods, carries DiBruno Bros. cheeses and spreads, and has a full line of breads, pastries and cakes. There is also an Italian Village store that I have yet to try, but I have heard good things about their Maple Shade location. If anyone has a comparable list of quality stops within such close proximity, I would love to hear about it.
  13. Which is...? ← Broad Street, about 100 feet north of Packer Avenue.
  14. Overboard means extra gravy (soooo good). On the outs means add some crunchy cuts from the exterior of the steamship round, if available.
  15. Now you've got me perplexed. Whenever I prepare roast beef at home, I usually end up slicing it, and the resulting slices are usually moist, even if they do have a crust and have not been sitting in juices for a while. (They usually produce their own, which I then reduce to make gravy.) What should a good roast beef sandwich feel like in one's mouth? ← An Old Original Nick's, overboard on the outs.
  16. I don't get that. Why not offer provolone? It seems like some weird line drawn in the sand. My preference is a pizza steak - do they pass on that as well?
  17. Is it true they only use American cheese? That makes me not want to go.
  18. Talk of The Town makes a very good sliced, flipped steak sandwich. Much like Steve's. It is in my top 3 in the city.
  19. If you get to the Teamsters Local 676 building, you went too far. Also, recent construction has eliminated the circle (but not the complicated Haddon Ave U-turn).
  20. Jamaican Jerk Hut's jerk chicken with rice and peas.
  21. Criniti's is open for lunch.
  22. Potito's on Ritner St.
  23. thanks for the recommendation. I will be near there Tuesday and will give them a try. I am a big fan of Fat Jack's beef ribs - does Sunset do beef ribs, or pork only? ← They only do pork spare ribs, but the racks are nice size. ← I tried Sunset today and was underwhelmed. The ribs were unseasoned, had no smoke flavor (they barely had any pork flavor) and were gray in appearance.

  25. I was under the impression Famous Deli on Krewstown Rd makes their own - the taste varies enough from week to week to support this. That, and the sign that says OUR OWN HOMEMADE.
