  1. Sweet. That is very close to me. I'll give it a try next week and report back.
  2. There's a great Greek place called Mythos at Lonsdale & 18th.

    Metro

    Wow, that was brutal.
  4. When I lived on the North Shore my favourite sushi was Kokoro on Lonsdale. The place has seriously good sushi. Try the Energy Rolls....unreal! A few reviews here... http://chefmoz.org/cgi-bin/detail.pl?ID=Ca...&num_results=20

    Metro

    The place looks very "metro"
  6. I swear to God, there is no good pizza in this city. I had a pretty good pie at Olympia on Denman awhile ago, but that's about it! Can someone please convince me that Vancouver isn't the worst pizza city in the world!?!?
  7. This is a very poor reason to avoid something.
  8. I need a good spot in the sun for a few dozen beers before for the Police show tonight! Somewhat close to GM Place would be excellent. Thank you for your recommendations. I'm also having a hard time finding a good patio in my 'hood (Quebec and 16th)....any ideas?
  9. I stopped by for some oysters last week...excellent deal at $1.25. Thanks for the info SBonner.
  10. I need a spot for tomorrow night for 6 people for a BDAY party. I would like something fairly casual. I tried La Buca but they don't take groups over 4 on Saturdays and Cardero's is booked up till 9pm. For some reason I'm drawing a blank right now. Any ideas?
  11. ^cruel, weird, personal attack... ^weird thing to say, why do we care about the umbrella stand and shelf? Maybe it's just me, but her review is one of the most bizarre I have ever read.
  12. Ditto from me. I'm also wondering out loud why it is that when someone submitts a negative review (on eG), the reviewer is almost always asked to explain themselves, but that almost never happens for a positive review. "You liked it?? Why? What did you have? You must have been there on an "on" night." Just wonderin' A. ← I don’t think anyone has a problem with a negative review. FannyBay’s review was not negative; it was cruel to the point of being weird. She actually makes personal attacks and the review was written in a childish, condescending tone. I think that is what everyone is taking issue with.
  13. My wife and I had an excellent meal there last week. Duck and Venison were shared and I loved them both. Will be back!
  14. I got married at the Brock House and the food was great....highly recommended.
  15. I like Rangoli too....love the lamb curry.
  16. My wife and I went to West last night for DOV. First course I had SALAD OF ENDIVE AND CRISP PROSCIUTTO. She had MOSAIC OF CHICKEN AND FOIE GRAS. Both were average. My salad was heavily overdressed and hers lacked punch…pretty bland tasting. The crisp prosciutto was excellent though…kind of like a prosciutto jerky…salty and delicious. We faired much better with the mains. We had the STAR ANISE BRAISED PORK BELLY, SAVOY CABBAGE PUREE and WILD MUSHROOM, SWISS CHARD AND RICOTTA RAVIOLI. The pork belly was very tender and flavorful. Her ravioli was great also…cooked perfectly. Dessert was excellent. We shared DARK CHOCOLATE CARAMEL PARFAIT WITH MILK CHOCOLATE BANANA MOUSSE and GINGERCAKE WITH MAPLE PANNACOTTA. Overall, it was a great meal. By the way, I called yesterday and got a res same day at 5:15pm if anyone is looking for an early dinner this week.

$280 with no wine seems ridiculous?!

LOL, I love the fact that he capitalized very when describing the bacon. What a tool. I for one, believe bacon in stuffing is a fantastic idea! I'm checking this place out. PS. Vegetarians eat chicken?

I've heard good things about Phat in Yaletown...haven't had a chance to check it out yet myself.
  21. I picked up some beef jerky here today....1lb for $18. Unreal stuff! It is very moist and sweet. Unlike other jerkies I have tried, this stuff is actually a little bit sticky due to the marinade they use. Highly recommended!
  22. Shiro last night....I cannot figure why people line up at Toshi's when this place is a few blocks away. It is 10x better. Had some tuna sashimi, spicy tuna roll, yellowtail and scallion roll, deep fried squid...all awesome.
  23. Bacon could be hard to come by in an Israeli joint...call it a hunch! ← good point, it's off the list
  24. I want bacon too. Fries and bacon!
