  1. I'm having some problems posting pics so I'll try to upload them later. My spouse found a vintage le creuset pate terrine pan. She paid $1.50. We sold it on ebay for 63.01. I found a Villeroy & Boch knife rest. Paid 50 cents. Sold for $22.00
  2. Did you work out your website issue yet? I know you can get a blogspot.com for free and link your other name to it( somehow, just dont ask me how). Blogspot's are very easy to set up.
  3. I live in a small town in SW Ontario. I make frequent trips to the border town of Port Huron, MI for grocery shopping, target runs, etc. I usually eat lunch there and the pickings are slim. Mostly chains or fast food outlets. While I'd never willingly chose( if I was in NYC) to eat at Ruby's, I agree with FG about the salad bar. All you can eat salad bar's are non-existent in this part on Ontario as well. I also enjoy the turkery burgers( since I don't eat red meat). RT's recently removed the salad bar/stuffed potato combo from the menu, but you can still order it.
  4. What is a ground husk cherry tomato? They look an awful lot like tomatillo's to me.
  5. I was going to suggest this as well, but you beat me to it. I've made this and I agree. Its an acceptible bread and very easy.
  6. For more classic idea's to make over, check out Richard Sax's classic home desserts. There are a lot of great, retro desserts. Oh and for a reference..... a fantastic pineapple upside down cake that uses NO CHERRIES. Check out CI. They have a ginger/coconut variation as well.

    Rosh Hashana

Where is Exeter, Ontario? I'm in Ontario too - have dinner with us! ← Exeter is about 30 minutes N. of London. Thanks for the offer, I ended up not even cooking last night. I'm going to make some matza ball soup today, that will have to tide me over until I go back to Ft. Lauderdale next month.
  8. My ex is from Shakopee and her grandma gave me a church cookbook from her church in Jordan. It contains about 30 different hot dish recipes. I actually do make a tater tot hot dish( that I totally revised) that my neice absolutely loves.
  9. My vote is for Apple Pie( maybe with a crumb topping). The Ontario apples are wonderful.
  10. Not to hijack your thread, but I'd have to agree with that. I moved from Long Beach, CA to Exeter, ON( pop:4,400). We're right smack dab in the middle of Huron County which I believe is the corn capital of Ontario. At least I did have the option of marrying my same-sex partner( which I did). For some odd reason, that gives us more credibility than if we were just shacking up together. Oh and on my drive to Michigan, I pass another Indian reservation( Stoney Point First Nation, home of the infamous Ipperwash shooting). Their sign says they are unceded as well.
  11. Don't know if they still are making them, but Oral-B makes something called a brush up. You slip it over your finger and rub it on your teeth. It's not a brush, but rather like a peppermint flavored wipe for your teeth. They work great.
  12. I'm happy to report that I had no problems with my ice packs. My medicine clearly states that it needs to be refridgerated so the ice packs were no problem. I was able to hold a sandwich in there as well.
  13. I take my bagel the same way. Sometimes I ask them to scoop out the middle before toasting. You'd have thought I asked them if they carried Starbucks Coffee the way they looked at me.
  14. Wow, the leaves are really changing up there. I'm excited to see you blogging. I've been as far north as Tobermoray, which I absolutely loved. What's the population up there?
  15. Ate at Katz today. Thank for the reccomendation, it was very good. We brought in dinner from Mario's. It was just ok.

    Battered Halibut

I too say NEVER AGAIN. Frying fish is best left to the profesionals. I have the same deep fryer that Marlene does and I made haddock. It stuck to the basket, even more so than Marlene's. What a mess. Never again!!!
  17. I made mine on Saturday for a party on Sunday. I kinda screwed it up so I covered the middle with coolwhip. Obviously, I didnt let the first layer chill enough and the opaque purple leaked thru. You can see one dot of it on the front. I also didnt use the right colors. I used a peach jello that was too light as well as a strawberry that was way too light. It looked pink. Nevertheless, the kids went nuts for it( some adults did too).
  18. I don't think so, unless Susan isnt a lesbian anymore. I've met all three of them ( I had an interview with Josh) and in my opinion, there is something fishy going on!!
  19. This entire thread absolutely disgusts me.
  20. Thanks!! I'd rather not drive outside of Charlotte, since I wont have a car( I'm visiting a friend). Local BBQ it will have to be. I'm sure this is a longshot, but are there any good Jewish Deli's? I'm also looking for Mexican and Thai. I've ordered grits from Hoppin John's before, but since I'm going to NC, Id rather just pick some up there.
  21. Something tells me you're going to have some trouble with this on future flights. I would stick to sandwiches / cookies / fruits / vegetables, and only things that don't need to stay cold. Anything that's vaguely gel- or liquid-like is going to get confiscated. ← Hmmm, I never thought about the ice thing. I have a travel pack( from the pharmacutical company) that has two small ice packs and a place for my Byetta( diabetic medicine). My Diabetic meds MUST stay cold so I wonder what I'm going to do. I'm taking a flight next week too.
  22. I always travel with a mini softsided cooler and an blue-ice. I do take medicine with me that needs to be refridgerated so since I'm bringing the cooler anyway, I tend to pack sandwiches.
  23. Andi, I can't imagine there is anything you don't use. Am I mistaken?
  24. I can answer that one since my favorite is Jiff. I'm assuming he means any pb other than the natural stuff( just ground peanuts)
  25. What's your dog's name? Are you currently working in the food industry? You've said you went to CIA, can you tell us more about that experience?
