So how was it?? ← I had dinner at the Corson Building last night. Excellent dinner with a few standouts. The flavors were fairly complex and not assertive. The ingredients were the true stars with herbs and other accompaninets used more of a background. One of the courses was a blue cheese soufle excellently prepared and not served family style. It is great to set a table with people that know a lot about food because it is very fun to analyze the other things that are not necessarily mentioned about the dish. Eating there was much like the better days at the Herb Farm except more fun. It will be interesting to see how things evolve.

Last night was a farro risotto with peas morrells mint and parm. regiano. And almost a first for the year...no meat!

In a salad with some mint and isaerli couscous with a splash of balsamic and olive oil.

In honor of your blog and partly due to the great pictures, I bought some lamb quarters at the farmer's market this morning.

I have a copy of the Vij's cookbook and have been there before. I would highly recommend the cookbook.

I just got back from Mexico and everyone kept bragging about how good the Domino's pizza is there compared to the states. Well, one night everyone was feeling a little under the weather and we decided to try it. For one, I haven't had Domino's in probably 15 years. But it was actually pretty good and you get little picante sauce packets too!

I was at Pacific Oyster a couple of weeks ago. Very good oysters, but one of the schuckers was not very good. Also, they were out of Kumotos. Still recommended-- it was that good. -
Cooking Classes in Seattle
MagFoodGuy replied to a topic in Pacific Northwest & Alaska: Cooking & Baking
We have a group of around 8 that would like to take a cooking class together for a birthday in June. I am working on maybe Boat Street but does anyone know of any other restaurants or chefs that offer private classes? Thanks. -
Only because it is so bland...Grilled pork tenderloin and grilled brocolli. BLAH BLAH and BLAH

I have been eating grass fed beef for about three years coming from two sources. 90% of my beef comes from a local farmer, but the other 10% of time it comes from my grocery store that has only been selling grass fed beef. Now, the grocery store has switched suppliers and the new beef is grain fed. I was very apprehensive to try it at first, but I brought home a couple of the strip steaks and they were so lucious that we have had them at least once a week for the past two months. Now, I am torn on whether I like the grain or grass fed better. My old thought was the grass fed beef tasted "beefier." But the grain fed beef has more of a rounded "full palate" taste. Just writing this makes me want to go to the store now and get some steaks. Steak and a baked potato loaded with toppings.

Ranch flavored Pringles. This is really bad, because I try to eat a local focussed artisianal diet, but I cannot give up the Pringles. I had never tried the ranch flavor until today and only bought them because the store was sold out of the BBQ ones. This flavor is really disgusting btw.

Last Saturday, I used some leftover paella and made a paella fried rice with egg and chicken. Fried rice is one of my favorite breakfasts, but this one was a little odd. Of course, my other favorite breakfast is chicken fried steak or chicken.

I was there a few weeks ago and found the food to be very good. I will have to admit I found the 1000 layer pancake needing something, but I did observe them making the pancakes in the front room. The real highlights are the fried dishes (like the salt-and-pepper pork chop and the duck) and a surpisingly good shrimp with lobster sauce.

There is a new Salvadorean restaurant opening on Aurora just before the old Larry's where the Hakka chinese restaurant used to be. Says opening soon. -
We are staying in Vancouver but willing to travel and explore.

We are going to be up in Vancouver this weekend. I would like three really good Chinese restaurants to try. One for dim sum, one for lunch and one for dinner. Thanks.

I have had a Thermomix for a couple years now and have learned some great recipes that work really well in the machine. Like creme anglais, molten chocolate cake batter, etc. Just looking for more original ideas that people might have.
