  1. I always check eggs. I smell and touch my produce, but not squeeze it hard or anything like that - unlike other people I've seen who seem to think that they need to squish it. *Grr* I also completely check over things like bread, baked goods, etc. I'd never open anything sealed, but I want to make sure that I'm getting quality products.

    Cooking for Yourself

Smoked oysters on saltines - some with mayo, some without. (That's comfort food!) The very idea disgusts DH. Bread. The good stuff. DH views bread as "merely an edible plate" - his words. He prefers to not have his bread have much taste. Chocolate. Because DH doesn't like it. Omelettes. Because if he can taste the egg, it's no-go. Stuff with nuts. Because DH doesn't like them, won't eat them. Fresh mozzarella with slice tomatoes and olive oil. DH can't eat raw tomatoes (allergies) and hates fresh mozzarella. And anything I might want that has been smoked. Because DH doesn't like ANYTHING smoked. He's picky. Well, at least as far as stuff like that. I also like to cook simple, vegetarian meals. I like the flavor. DH prefers most of his food to have lots of meat in it...

    Vegetarian intestines

You know, I was a vegetarian for a long time and NEVER did I think "Goodness. I'm wish I had some intestines to chew on." And the way they had them curled up on the package to look ultra-realistic?!? It looked very very weird.
  4. Waffle. Definitely. Sugar does in a pinch though. And, most of the time, if I would have to have a cake cone, I'd just rather have it in a cup or a bowl.
  5. I'm a sucker for Great Harvest. The quality of the bread is wonderful, the shop always smells delicious, and the people there are so darn nice and helpful. Plus, if you want to try their bread before you invest in a whole loaf, chances are you can get a slice of whatever it is that you're considering buying.
  6. My little sister used to know every slogan to every store that she saw an ad for on tv and referred to them by that (for example, she'd say "Jamesway-we-care" instead of "Jamesway"). And, at the time, my mother was a manager at Pizza Hut. One day, on our way in to see my mother, she saw an earwig near the door. She ran up to my mother and pronounced loudly, "Mommy, there's a bug at Pizza Hut Making It Great!"
  7. My cravings during that "special time of the month" are: Chocolate - specifically fudge, brownies (though I like fudgelike brownies, not cakelike brownies), and "premium" milk chocolate bars... and Snickers which, according to most women I've talked to, is pretty common. We all like Snickers. Chocolate chip cookie dough, sometimes in the form of Ben and Jerry's ice cream, but I prefer homemade dough. Rice pudding. Doughnuts. And, for some odd reason, celery with peanut butter or cream cheese.
