    Dinner! 2005

On Sunday a few members of the family gathered from all over to country to enjoy: Prime bone in rib-roast Along with crab cakes, roasted pork loin, broccoli salad, potato gratin, potato salad, dhansak and a few other dishes I am sure I am forgetting. The food seemed extra tasty due to the company
  2. The day after thanksgiving I made some scrambled eggs with some brown sugar glazed ham.

Josh, Sounds great...very lucky. Did you secure this reservation at the last minute or in advance? I can't wait for my visit in a few weeks and I hope they have good Alba truffles.
  4. I would second the Chicago dog at Johnnie's Dog House. While you are there, you may want to try their Texas or Chili dog and a shake.
  5. Before our thanksgiving dinner, we had pomegranate martinis, made by one of our dinner guests.

Susan, How was that Turducken? I wanted to make one, but I wife did not like the idea Alina, I would happily swap a piece of pie for those scrumptious looking tarts
  7. OK, so technically this was not my "breakfast" as I had it for dinner, but something I would have for breakfast. I made some beef sate a few nights ago, which resulted in some incredible pan juice (sate jus? ) So, how could I pass that up without cracking an egg in it? Obligatory pated shots It was awesome....salty, sweet and sour/tangy.
  8. So after a few failed attempts at being able to score a Ja Xa Mein, I wanted in on Wed and the owner immediately knew what I wanted and said I will have the kitchen make it for you. So behold.... Ja Xa Mein Unfortunately, it is all gone and I will have to try to get some again.
  9. Hey, wouldn't that be a cool idea if we started a "breakfast club" and fedexed each other goodies? I could send people smoked duck
  10. Ling, that sounds cool... A few days ago I made scrambled eggs with a side of mushrooms and topped it with some spicy sichuan sauce (again...)

    Dinner! 2005

A few days ago I decided to make Beef Satay, loosely following a recipe from America's Test Kitchen. Beef marinating Just out of the broiler Plated with some peanut dipping sauce and papaya Turned out pretty good...and quite easy to make. Plus, the pan juices looked so good that I had to crack an egg in it. (Those on the Breakfast Thread will testify to my indulgence of eggs, perhaps as a rebellion against childhood restriction of them )
  16. I wish by egg shells broke in such a decorative fashion
  17. Scrambled eggs with Spicy Schiuan Beef and Tripe
  18. Its been a while since I had Chinese food in India, but I remember ordering staples like: Sweet corn chicken (or crab) soup Chilie chicken Hakka noodles American Chop suey Manchurian Chicken Sweet and sour pork or jumbo prawns etc...
  19. A few years ago the Plaza used to have good high tea. Though it was good, I am not sure if it would be considered the best in the city.
  20. Went there for lunch yesterday. Unfortunately, they were out of Ja Xa Mein (spagetti with pork), but the owner assured me it would be available after 5pm, so I may swing by again. I decided to get: Spicy Beef with Tripe (#7 on Chinese menu) This was good but the beef and tripe seemed to absorb all the heat from the chilies, so be careful and eat with a fair amount of rice. Plan to eat some of the leftover for breakfast today. Boiled fish in spicy sauce (#27? on Chinese menu) Need more rice for this one. This was a decent sized dish for only $14.95, which included quite a few large filet strips of fluffly, white but otherwise neutral flavored fish, which seeemed like a good balance (read sanctuary) for the spicy chili pepper sauce. While I can handle more spice than most, I must admit that my stomach was pleading for a yogurt smoothie after this meal, but not hard enough to keep me from going back...maybe even today.
  21. Getting warmer Today I had scrambled eggs with mushrooms, topped with Italian sundried tomato string cheese

  25. I agree with Philadining...this meal was a homerun. Each selection was bursting with flavor and perfectly seasoned. Here are some of the accompanying pics... Alas, these bottles were not our donation to the cause...
