Amuse Bouche - Watermelon with 30yr balsamic vinegar Chared Octopus w/smoked paprika oil and garbanzo beans - Extremely tender octopus tentacles which reminded me of the greek style preparation, though chef said they were not marinated. The paprika oil and octopus were a patch made in heaven. Chef's treat #1Cucumber sorbet with basil, olive oil and goat cheese Chef's treat #2-Sweetbread with figs and toasted hazelhuts Main Course - Stake wing and Pork Belly - The pork belly was extra tender with a super crispy skin, served on a bed of perfectly cooked lentils. The white thing next to the pork belly is a turnip. The stake wing seemed to be poached on a bed of cabbage. Was too full for dessert. Sorry about the poor low-light quality of the pics.

Went back to Cosimo for dessert and some after dinner drinks (late harvest Sauvignon Blanc and a Riesling) Shooters - If memory serves correctly, it consisted of (from left to right) Coconut Tapioca pearls with mandrin orange, deconstructed tiramasu, chocolate pears & calvados, banana pudding

So I made it to Zwahlen's Ice Cream & Chocolate Co. and got the flavor of the day - Turtle (caramel, pecans and chocolate chunks) based on a sample I was offered. WOW !! This place is really good...better than the creamery in Chester Springs They have flavors that rotate almost every day

Charlie, do you remember how long it was cooked under pressure?

v.gautam, while the yoghurt, tamarind, sev, etc are the same between Papdi ka chaat and Dahi Puri, the difference is that instead of the Papdi, the use Puris (the same puris as are used in Pani Puri). It is quite possible that Dhai Puri is more of a Bombay thing.

My bad !! I guess I was really missing my almost weekly rotisserie chicken from Wegmans when I zoomed past this sign and misread it. Oh well...good chicken though and I will have to try out the fries. mod*betty, I was going to try Zwahlen's out tomorrow and you just sealed the deal.

And thanks for contributing to it !!

OK, so after reading all the reviews of Bluefin, I decided to try it out....on a Sat for lunch....should have check the hours They are not open for lunch on weekends. OK on my way back I see this run down place which has an old-time-rustic family vibe (no clue if that is really true or not), so I decided to drop in and check it out. The place is called Specks Drive-in and there is a big sign saying "roasted chicken"...except by roasting they mean frying. This place serves burgers, cheesesteaks, etc, but I was going to try the fried..(maybe I can fool my brain to not process the cholestrol)...yeah... "roasted" chicken and sides. No collard greens but they had macroni and potato salad. I also got a cup of maryland crab soup. Everything was under $5 !! The soup was decent for the price. The chicken was better than expected. The skin was crispy and the meat plump and moist. Second only to Delilah's in Philly.

Went to Cosimo's again. It was really the craving for the desserts that made me make the trip again. This time I tried Teriyaki Salmon with noodles and salad with a miso dressing - They ask you what temp you prefer your salmon at and mine was cooked a perfect medium-rarish, as requested. Paired it with a "Pinot for miles" tasting. The eye opener was the Lamont from New Zealand...great nose and berries on the palate with a nice round finish. Selecting dessert was the hardest choice. Should I get the wonderful "Tropical" tasting I got last time for that delightful passion fruit panna cotta or should I try the "Shooters" or ... you get the idea. In the end, I decided to try the "Nuts" tasting which I believe included a walnut thumbprint, rum & raisin gelato and waltnut macaroons. Delicious, but in a mellow way, lacking the tart punch of any tropical fruits. Service as usual is a friendly, though a bit slow. Perhaps they took Laban's comment of feeling rushed to heart and went to the other extreme. Might probably swing by tomorrow evening....this place is addictive!!

There was so much needless yelling and screaming that I had to frequently flip to another station just to ease my fragile little mind

Wine & Spirits Bargains at the PLCB (Part 3)
percyn replied to a topic in Pennsylvania: Cooking & Baking
I understand that this is a closeout, but there is no mention of it at the store. It looks as if this is a regular item that normally sells for $34.99. Is there any reason to believe that it won't still be available at this price for awhile? ← The manager confirmed that it is indeed a closeout and that it will not be available (at least for some time) once the inventory is gone. BTW, the Phoenixville store does not have this item displayed out front, but they do have it in the back storage area. -
Pille, great to see that you are blogging on eG this week. That borsch looks amazing. Looking forward to some good eats !! Cheers Percy

Wine & Spirits Bargains at the PLCB (Part 3)

Picked up 2 bottles of Eagle Rare myself. The Phoenixville store (of all places) has 8 more bottles left. -
Salmon topped with potato gratin, drizzled with truffle oil. Side of edamame Sweedish meatballs with potatoes, cream sauce and lingonberry preserves - wanted to recreate the original meatball dish I had in Stockholm. Got the meatballs, sauce packet and lingonberry preserves at IKEA. Good, though the sauce was not as hearty as the original.

Welcome back Nonblonde and glad your horses came back to you. Found some good local bacon yesterday at a farmers market, so I slow baked them in the oven and they were ready just around the time "Sunday Morning" on CBS was running a piece on Bacon hosted by Bobby Flay. Fried Eggs & Bacon - Slow roasted in the oven and glazed with maple syrup, pepper and a little Grand Marnier

Holly, I was there recently because I was jonsing (as Katie might say) for a Lobster Roll. I am happy to report, that they DO NOT serve it on a brioche bun. The lobster meat seemed to be from the claws and knuckles only. It seemed fresh and firm vs the mushy textured ones I have been served at other establishments. The fries and slaw were pretty good too. Not sure about the value quotient given the $19.99 price tag....though it beats the alternative of a $149 ticket to Boston.

Well written article and very interesting work that you are doing...keep it up !! I was not aware that Bhel had apples. Is this a personal or regional preference?

Did a quick google search and found this posted a review. Seems like it is owned by ex-owners of Twin Bays in Phoenixville, where I have had decent but not mind-blowing meals. Personally, I would give them some time to work out the kinks, given that the restaurant only opened on Aug 21st.

You certainly are...just ask Bruce !! Nice looking (and I am sure tasting Fench Toast). Lisa, congratulations on your first house.
