Word. Another boggler is why somebody decided it was a good idea to build a giant Safeway only blocks away from another giant Safeway. WTF?

[SEA] Fare Start Guest Chef Nights in Septempter
MsRamsey replied to a topic in Pacific Northwest & Alaska: Dining
Please tentatively add MrRamsey(Gorman) to 9/16. It depends on what time his flight comes in, but I can give him a heads up to get an early one. Thanks, Laurel! -
It closed quite a while ago. It didn't seem like it was open long.

Blue C for me was okay when I stuck with a very basic piece of nigiri. Everything else was awful.

[sea] Local, flavorful pork?
MsRamsey replied to a topic in Pacific Northwest & Alaska: Cooking & Baking
Cool. Those were the people I was trying to think of. I've had the Sara Joe's pork belly at The Georgian (back when they participated in 25/$25 ), and I've seen Sara Joe's sausages in the past at Madison Market--haven't looked recently, though. Edit: According to the website, their product is served at "Earthen Ocean." -
La Louisiana is still open. I ate there for lunch on Thursday and dinner on Friday last week. They were full on Friday night. I also could find no phone number for them last week. I chalked it up to the 411 operator's cluelessness. Edit: I happen to have their card in my pocket (forgot that I grabbed one)!! Phone number is 329-5007.

I would think that a seat could be reserved for you, then canceled several days beforehand if you end up not being able to go (but you'd better ) -
Maximilien in the Market is my suggestion. The food and the place are simple, but elegant. Edited to add: And a stellar view.

1/2 priced restaurant gift certificates
MsRamsey replied to a topic in Pacific Northwest & Alaska: Dining
Gift certificates purchased after July 1st cannot expire due to Washington's new gift certificate law. -
I find it dingy and dirty, is basically why.

What does "clean" mean? Organic?

Mark Bittman on Seattle food scene

That's how I've felt in Brasa recently. Quiet as a tomb. I went to Cascadia's bar on Saturday and the restaurant was quite busy. But of course one would hope for that at least on a weekend. -
The only one I can think of is Baker's on Lake City Way, but it isn't all that pleasant a place. I've been a life-long Baskin Robbins diehard, but it's gone way downhill. Everything tastes like chemical.

1/2 priced restaurant gift certificates
MsRamsey replied to a topic in Pacific Northwest & Alaska: Dining
when we donate gift certificates or give out ones that are good for things like 'Dinner for Two' then it is not the same as cash and spirits can not be purchased with them, if that makes any sense That's not the case here, though, is it? Thanks, PeoplesPub, for the good, solid info. -
1/2 priced restaurant gift certificates

Thanks, MsRamsey - this law is good to know about. I got another g.c. to a different restaurant through this promotion, and it makes no mention of the "no liquor" restriction. I'll be curious to see if they enforce it! I don't really doubt that we have such a law given our silly liquor rules in this state, but I'd still like some confirmation that this law actually exists. I haven't been able to find any so far. -

Kati Daniels, the Promotion Director at KIRO, informs me that Washington State Law dictates that liquor cannot be purchased with a gift certificate. -

I bought one for Troiani. Couldn't resist. -
What's so confusing? Salmon is an extremely forgiving fish and hard to screw up. Even at home, one can easily make a spectacular piece of salmon.
