  1. Good Point! I did buy one a few years back, was thinking about it this year, but then again......
  2. Is this place the cheapest to get The Guide? £11.99
  3. Jon have you got the barcode scanner? Does it work ok? Looks like a good site! Will add mine soon.
  4. Neither had I Gavin, chef seems to have an impressive CV. Website Looks like an odd location.
  5. Was on amazon earlier today and saw JBR is bringing out a new book Mad About Food in March. I was just wondering if anyone has got his first Book he brought out? Any good? Are they restaurant dishes? Paul
  6. Alright Phil, What are the opening hours?
  7. Tony have you thought about sending that post to Tesco via email or something? I'd be interested to hear what their reply is!
  8. I can't remember the last time I saw a photo of an a la carte dish from the Fat Duck? Anybody got a link to some?
  9. Missed last nights show too Although I bought the book today whilst in Canterbury for £9.99 at British Bookshops Sussex Stationers (Anyone else have a branch of these near them? Always have new books in at very good prices). Haven't had a real read yet but the book does only have the 8 recipes I think, but again its the detail/length HB goes into that is fascinating. A lot of information and knowledge which will no doubt educate me..
  10. I'd second this, was there last monday evening with a reservation for 2215. First thing that hit me was the noise of the room. But had a fantastic meal, everything I'd imagined it to be. Whoever said he was the Pete Sampras of cooking (somewhere on the board) I definatly know where your coming from. Its not a bad thing either... What did you go for Andy? I opted for: Slow Braised pied de cochon pressed then pan fried with poached quails egg, ham knuckle and hollandaise. Line caught turbot roasted on the bone with coriander papardelle, braised vegetables and a citrus butter sauce Shared a Cheese and Assiette de l'Aubergine One thing I found a bit distracting was seeing a lot of the kitchen brigade coming and going from the restaurant over to what I presume is their new staff accommodation ( I was seated at the window). They could maybe drop the curtains when it gets a bit late into the night/early morning? (Am I nit-picking? ) Paul
  11. Ramsay and Bourdain in The Times Paul
  12. Great read, Thanks Pat! What was the food like? Paul
  13. Sure I saw Le Gavrcohe in Restaurant Magazine few months back promoting their wide choice of beers, which they would pair with your meal. Not sure thats the one you meant to be honest.
  14. Noticed this LINK whilst on the media thread. Whats peoples views?
  15. Not sure Gary but SquareMeal are usually quite accurate. Planning a trip down?
  16. Just received my copy, and would just like to add my praise for the work that has obviously gone into it. Cookbook of the Year....
  17. Has anyone been to the newly opened Ruby Tates down in Brighton? Chef seems to have worked with the big 3. Review would be grateful as could be coming down in the next few weeks and was thinking of Riddle and Finns but can be easily swung. Cheers Paul
  18. Scott whats Frederick Simonins background, is he Robuchon protégé, been with him a while?
  19. Had quick lunch here on Tuesday, and food was really good. Onion bread to start, liked the caramalisation on crusts! Was looking forward to Crab risotto, but wasn't on the menu! Went for The Seasalter Terrine, which was really tasty, think he uses mostly pork belly, with a fried quails egg, few cornichons and sourdough. My dining partner who wasn't that hungry had the feta, melon and pumpkin seed salad, which she said was fine, a touch too much oil though. Also like Matt I had a couple of his Oysters and Hot Chorizo, which again hit the spot. Mains I went for Braised Brill with Pistou and summer vegetables, was very light, seasonal with fish cooked perfectly, could definitely taste cheese in the Pistou, possibly Parmesan?? Dessert went for Rhubarb 3 ways, which was a Jelly, a creme brulee and sorbet which they put some popping candy at the top. Great way to end a meal. They also managed a "redberry" fruit salad for my partner. With a coffee came some cubes of moist brownie, a pint of Whitstable Bay, and bottle of water total just under £48. Lucky to have it just down the road.
  20. Gloves off it seems! Matt how was The Sportsman?
  21. Just a quickey, seems they have updated their website fairly recently. Must start saving to go back!
  22. Does anyone know the exact dates RHR will be shut? Can't seem to find them and trying to plan a meal here. Prior thanks, Paul
  23. Hardly mentioned on here (correct me if I'm wrong) is Nathan Outlaws "newish" place St Ervan Manor. Never been myself but I place I would try to visit if I was down that way. Englands Best B & B Paul
  24. What with the opening of Arbutus this week, I seemed to have missed the quiet opening of new venture from Chris Galvin and his head chef André Garrett. Any Egullters been yet? Are they open for lunch? Was a review in the Telegraph today, JM was on holiday so Belinda Richardson? filled in for her. She seemed to enjoy it.
