  1. hmm not sure what you are asking, they do take reservations if they have seats available. make sure you have the right number? Le Pichet
  2. Julia you are obviously quite a thoughtful and generous person. Your city is lucky to have you!
  3. Here's the link to said review.
  4. Finally made it to Crush for dinner. We were meeting another couple so sat at the bar watching Chef Jason and crew crank out the meals. The drinks weren't very good- too sweet, but you can eat full menu there. The upstairs is finished although we didn't get to see it as they were doing awine dinner. Amuse was carrot soup with ginger and mint cream, very good and the largest amuse I've ever had! 1st courses ordered were the duck fries with poached duck egg and white asparagus, they forgot to put the 'fries' on and just brought them over on a seperate plate <_< , torchon of foie gras with rhubarb compote and brioche- by far the best, a huge serving of foie! Also ordered were the crab raviolis. Entrees were the seared ahi, the halibut with duck 'lardo' and the lamb chops with morels and sausage (again the winning dish) For dessert there was a tasting of chocolates which was good, buttermilk donuts which were just ok and banana brulee with dolce de leche which was really good, but a bit sweet for me. The wine mark up seems to be a bit high, the other prices seem good. Our service was a little shaky but all in all it was good and we'll be back. Oh and Nicole is very preggers!
  5. I really like Zoe, nice cocktails, great atmosphere, wonderful food.
  6. And sister restaurant clarklewis has stopped serving lunch. That was my favorite lunch spot in Portland. ← That's too bad, F&W had a great article on the couple who own and run this group of restaurants.
  7. I usually bring my lunch but if I do go out it is Bebas Essential Bakery 7 Star Pepper Dinner would be Palace Kitchen Le Pichet Pagliacci delivery
  8. they will suffocate if you put them in the water. I keep mussels overnight often. I take them out of the plastic and if they are also in a net bag I cut that open so they have room. I put some ice then a wad of wet newspaper in the bottom of a big bowl and the the shellfish, another piece of wet newspaper on top of them and maybe a bit more ice- but not enought that if it melts they will be submurged. Also don't beard them until right before you use them.
  9. I think Stephen was totally drunk on the reunion show! Just watched my tape last night and he seemed very slurry and the whole bit to Candice was OTT. Very amusing to watch though. Go Herold!
  10. does anyone know where I can find a Kafir lime tree here in seattle? I'd love to have one on my sunny balcony for the summer.
  11. Moby that looks just fantastic!!
  12. ling did you try the pain au chocolate at Besalu??? they are fab fab fab!
  13. a very nice fellow eG'er brought us home cured maple bacon as a hostess gift, last weekend we had it with some scrambled eggs with herbs
  14. You talkin' to ME? Yeah, I read about this place somewhere else a while back. Sounds great, hopefully they won't get dragged down to the lowest common denominator by being a hotel restaurant. Website ← sadly the shop on QA is closed, It was all cleaned out when I was up there 2 weeks ago
  15. Hi all, I ended up at Thai Thani on Mon. night. It was good and the service very friendly. A huge place with carved Thai statues and the like, very pretty inside. The food was good and well priced. Tues night I made it to Cedar's. Yum!! I made a meal of basterma, laban salad and fried kebbeh. It was all very good- I had never had Lebanese food before. Again service was excellent! Last night I went back to Antonio's. very good again and the staff is OTT nice. The most expensive of the spots but nothing crazy. Also while talking with one of my driver's about Cedars it turned out that he is Syrian and is opening a restaurant also on Sand Lake Rd called Mediterranian Kitchen soon.
  16. Derek so happy that your weekend was filled with wonderful meals!! you've hit 3 very 'seattle' places that I would say are frequented mainly by locals!!! great job and happy anniversary!
  17. Elrushbo I haven't done both but in the kitchen you don't actually have a menu- it's the chef's choice. Also the chefs are very interactive, bringing the dishes in and discussing the plates. and of course the staff is very catering to you, a VIP type of attitude.
  18. thanks Susan, I will be online hopefully so I'll check in!
  19. reading the article that Bill posted, anyone have experience with Anaelle & Hugo?
  20. We also have this same fridge. storing 60 bottles in it would be tough unless they were all Cab style bottles. I keep stickies in the low 'bin'. I like the cooler but mine also is not quite accurate on the temperature read out.
  21. Cafe Lago is also great but they have totally opposite feels and menus. Volterra is a bit more upscale and Lago is more casual/family friendly. I like the food at both but again feel the menus are totally different with things like the best pizza and casual home made pastas on Lago's menus and a little more elegant presentations like noodles with Duck sauce (which is very yum!) at Volterra. And it just happens that the owners of both restaurants are also very nice!
  22. john I agree, the picture on the menu was a surprise! UE the steamed lamb was a perfect cube wrapped in the ramp leaves, it was incredible! juicy, red, really flavorful
  23. heading back to Orlando for business next week, anything new and exciting I should know about??
  24. btw, I ate at Fork on Sat and it was great and this was still on the menu!
  25. Volterra is great, it is also in Ballard which is a wonderful area to explore and there happens to be a great wine shop, Portalis just 1 block from the restaurant! The whole street is full of interesting shops and restaurants. Lark is a great choice too because it is very well priced and it's fun to share dishes with the one you love! Boat Street, Le Pichet and Fork are all good choices in good price points too. The other place I like to buy (and cellar) my wine is at Esquin which is a drive just south of the stadiums.
