  1. Vanilla ice cream sprinkled with Apple Smoked Red Savina Habanero powder. Blairs Death Rain Habanero potato chips.
  2. Other than the pressure to top themselves after the first film, and the lack of surprises other than those dealing with the prophesy, I had 2 problems: First, the film was just too preachy. Elements of spirituality and philosophy that were hinted at in the first film were fastened to baseball bats and slammed into vewers foreheads this time around. Yeah yeah, Morpheous, we get it. Now shut up and get going! The second thing which I've not been able to figure out is who the traitor guy was and where he came from. Did they have to make him look like Cypher from the first film? Do the bad guys always have to have bad goatees?
  3. So, what you're saying is that diners at this restaurant should have dined there every day in order to have a clear context as to his progression that would lead to an appreciation of his current preparations? I don't think so. Patrons should not be required to take courses in "Adria History" in order to enjoy or "understand" a meal, whatever that's supposed to mean. I could understand the cultural aspects of the cuisines of other countries where there are differences in the perceptions of the flavor or textural aspects, but I can't see that applying here as from what I've read this guy is just making it up as he goes along. He seems to have suffered the results of believing the extent of his own relevance and became a caricature of his own style.
  4. I get a file not found error for that link.
  5. I was there, stood on line for coupons. Wandered around, got in line for some of Ed Mitchell's whole hog BBQ. Finally get my pig and pay for it, go to take a bite when the sky opens up and it starts pouring rain. I'm fumbling around with BBQ in one hand and an umbrella whose snap would not open in the other, among a crowd of similarly afflicted festival goers. Finally got adjusted and was able to enjoy a less crowded venue in the couple of hours that followed. Am hoping the weather keeps crowds away from the Red Bank food and jazz fest as Sonny Kenn is scheduled to take the stage at 7pm, I'm selfish and don't like to wait in lines...
  6. There is a local liquor and wine dealer that sells 1.75 litre bottles of Poland Spring vodka (The bottled spring water folks) for $9.99. It is extremely smooth and you won't beat the price anywhere.
  7. Varmint, looks like I might be dragging my Bro Rich along too. Also rumor has it that Cat Lancaster from the heartland group might be susceptible to a little cajoling...
  8. I plan on being there...

    Cook's Tour

Are these the episodes you mentioned shooting "guerilla" style after ditching your handlers?

    Cook's Tour

I don't know if there were 2 separate seasons or if TV Food Network just stopped broadcasting it for a few months this winter. If it was all filmed at once that would put it prior to the book a couple years ago.
  11. Is this the contest where the public gets to watch all kinds of great BBQ being cooked by the contestants but is relegated to being able to only eat the crap sold by vendors?
  12. I am so there!
  13. Tony Bourdain visits Hanoi, where he celebrates the Vietnamese New Year. I think this is like the 3rd program of the series from his visit to Vietnam.

    Oink!

It's not a whole pig, but this weekend there's a lot of grilled dead animals at The Red Bank Jazz and Blues Festival.

    Oink!

If you can wait till fall and don't mind travelling...
  16. I'd kick in some scratch, but I was also thinking of contributing some sides and such. We could probably arrange to set up a roster for folks to bring other stuff like drinks, disposable flatware and dishes, condiments and munchies. We certainly have time enough to figure it out.
  17. I'm game.
  18. From what I know of most of the restaurants here in the US you would be much better served by learning Spanish.
  19. Low cholesterol and not spicy. Hmmm... I was going to recommend Annettes BBQ Heaven in Alexandria... Never mind...
  20. V- Would you want me or Jim McGrath to bring our Weber Smokers or grills to do other stuff on? My bro and I do killer homemade sausage and grilled portabellas.
  21. Down here around Exit109 many establishments have window stickers that say: "Zagat Rated." Period. They don't say what the ratings were, just "Zagat Rated."
  22. sat 31:no sun 1:yes sat 7:no sun 8: yes
  23. I'd definately recommend Guadaloupe Cafe for enchiladas with red AND grreen chile sauce that's not been dumbed down for the touristas...
  24. You must have pissed off Andrea Clurfield. She is editor at NJ Zagat and reviewer for Asbury Park Press. She has had a contentious affair with Casa Comida, the largest and oldest (est. 1981) Mexican Restaurant in Monmouth County for over a dozen years. Casa Comida was listed in all previous editions of the NJ Zagat. When Clurfield took over as editor, Poof! The review of Casa Comida dissapears. Coincidence?
  25. Yeah, let Jim be modest on his experience with smoking pig pieces, here's a picture of my Bro and a friend of Jims jawing away in front of Jim's trailor mounted Klose smoker at one of his Semi Annual Concord BBQs.
