  5. Balls Fried or not , in my opinion you must have some bread added and knead the ingredients to within an inch of it's/their life to make a cohesive mixture. Use wet hands to form your balls. What a lovely thread

    Chardonnay wine

Spot on Britcook. Cheltenham and all, it is. Leckhampton road is my leafy area. Tanabutler: I guess he would spend up to five pounds on a bottle. Thank you all for your advice. I will pass it on.

    Chardonnay wine

At our 'Monday drinking club' (Every six weeks, Witherspoons, Cheltenham) One of the group said he enjoyed Chardonnay wine, but had so far only had Australian Chardonnay and what could i suggest. I told him to try some French made wine , chardonnay/chenin blanc to expand his horizons. What advice could we give him to take him down the primrose path of wine discovery? Picture of The Monday Drinking club in action- not a glass of wine in sight. Editet to put a Z in Horizons Holy Moley.... I see a glass of chardonnay.

    Yep:
  11. I bake pretty good loaf of bread, so I do, a large freeform loaf and take along also a bottle of good wine.. the wine is allways welcome and during the festivities comments are allways made on the line of 'This bread , where did you get it from?.
  12. Fresh made condiments, even if it is only black pepper. How can anything in a bottle be as good as freshly squeezed lemon juice, olive oil, salt, the list goes on...

    Her First Cookbook

I once read a big thick book by James Beard. His love of good food shone through and it reminds me to go to the library tomorrow and get it again.

    Dinner! 2004

Leftovers: A finely chopped rasher of Gloucester Old Spot bacon sauted to release the fat , then the crispy bits reserved. Sauted cold new potatoes and fried tomatoes, finally sprinkled with chopped rosmary keeping this warm I tossed in the cold runner beans and carrots along with the golden bacon and made them dance. In the end a poached egg as having read the egg thread it seemd to me it would be best to use one up sooner rather than later. Edited to: change marjoram to rosmary, fool that i am!
  20. End grain teak. I have read that it is has a natural anti-bacteria effect. Bought one in Hong Kong, but it split during shipping and I ended up throwing it away. Months later I found it this is due to the wood drying out, a dunking in a bucket of water overnight would have resolved the problem.
  21. Given to me by my mum. Pobs Cubes of white bread in a bowl, with scalded milk poured over , then sprinkled with white sugar. The crusts add an interest to this dish. I may make some right now.
