  1. France to distill wine http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/a...e_too_much_wine
  2. After spending a week living with my in-laws, I'd have demo-ed the entire house . ← That would be her family not his.
  3. Yes it's the old joke. The only part of the pig that you cannot use.
  4. It's the only part of the pig that you can't use I was told.
  5. It's the only part of the pig that you can't use I was told.
  6. All About Braising in my new 9 qt LC French Oven.
  7. Cucina Viansa is for sale. Overlooked in Sonoma are The Depot just north of the square on 1st street west http://www.depothotel.com/. Also Deuce just south of town on broadway. Both are walking distance to the Plaza. Vacquero is burgers, ribs , steaks, etc. Great Bar which makes a good drink. Generals Daughter is being sold. I'm always glad to give direction and advice. Just ask.

So what did they drink and which wineries did they visit? I did not take notes.
  9. Perhaps a new post will change the avatar.
  10. have you considred that these may be appearing *because* of things like excessive use of antibacterial agents? soap & water to get rid of most things (act like a third-world person & die like one-santiation related disease is quite common there), but attempting to sanitize everything but imperfectly may let only the strongest 'germs' survive. ← At the winery we sanitize everything with Sodium Meta Bi Sulfite and Citric Acid. Boy don't have a cut on your hand when you reach in there.
  11. They bake their own goods. As for menu selection that is really hard to say, as everything I've ever had there is so good. I had the Duck and the Salt Cod both of which I've had before and really enjoy. Sonoma is only 45 min from the Golden Gate Bridge. If you come be sure to visit the Wine Exchange and The Cheesemakers Daughter. I love showing off the wonderful town where I live.

    Still playing downtown in Sonoma.
  14. My parents had a bottle of that under the sink. However theirs was the origional and contained Carbon Tetrachloride, which was a common cleaning solvent until they declared it a hazard and banned it. http://www.atsdr.cdc.gov/tfacts30.html
  15. story from the Sun SentinelAll things considered, few, if any, of us will have our wedding meals catered by Jean-Georges Vongerichten, (nor are we all 'the Donald') .... which brings me to the questions du jour: What did they serve at your wedding for the guests? Do you actually remember the meal itself? Would you have the same meal today after however many years of marriage? If prices of food for such an event have escalated, would you scale-down the meal? (Fresser, try this as a pre-nuptial exercise for when your 'big day' happens! ) ← Take out pizza and Martinis and Martinis and Martinis as I recall. There were 5 of us having a really good time. Bride to be had just gotten back from the laundromat so we had clean sheets. Reception was a whole other story witch i will relate later and took place later.
  16. I suppose this was directed at me, so I will respond. I advocate it, if only for one reason: the potential rewards far outweigh the risks. What is the point of living one's life in fear? If I die before I reach 30, then so be it, at least I enjoyed some good rare burgers in my day. ← A proper Rare Burger done on a proper roll is what I would order before I was executed. If they were honest I would live for another 10 years as they looked for one. With a proper cheese=5 more years.
  17. My 1st rule is that no raw meat ever goes on my main cutting board. I have a board for that. I also have a carving board for cooked meat. Everything else goes on the main cutting board and it gets wiped down and oil added as needed
  18. I was moving wine that we had just bottled into my cellar when I noticed a wet corner (wine is put in cork down) Found the bottle. My "friends" had managed to foil it with out a cork and put it in one of my cases. Still 7/8 full when I found it 2 days later. Foils do serve a purpose.
  19. Someone sneaks into my cellar at least once a month and opens and drinks one of my good bottles. Does that count?
  20. Bruno took over in 1951. I have more just ask.
  21. I just got a 9.5 qt oval at the outlet store for $163.00. Bought the orange cause it was 30% off. It's LC. Think 4 OssoBuco, 4 lamb shanks, 4 turkey legs, 4 whole duck legs. It's the size you need. Small crane when full really helps.
  22. You mean that when I wash sheets in hot water, with bleach, the bleach is not effective at all????? ← It does make them fall apart faster, if that's what your after.
