  1. Best bet is to get in a car and drive 7 hours to Duff's in Buffalo, but failing that the Rhino in Georgetown makes a decent wing and they actually give you blue cheese instead of Ranch dressing, which is a sacrilage.
  2. My feeling is that it is fast food and you go in expecting it to be bad for you. Go to a cafe and have a salad if you want low carb
  3. I think the meat is icky. But the combination of all of it is a fine balance and with enough ketchup is mighty tasty.
  4. A marketing buddy once told me that Wegman's invented the grocery store shopper's card. Don't know if that's true or not. Can anyone confirm?
  5. one of the stupidest ideas I have ever heard. Don't you think we are taking this Atkins thing a little too far? Has anyone heard of exercising to lose weight?
  6. I wish lobster bisque came out of my kitchen sink faucet
  7. Mark, are you from France? Otherwise you know nothing about wine -- according to your logic... You know... If I didn't know better, I'd say taking a potshot at someone for something they said in a thread three months ago was just TRYING to stir up trouble. If you want to start a thread about what makes a cook's food "authentic" and how that does or does not differ from "good," I think it'd be fascinating. This thread's for discussing Andale. I hear it's nice; how 'bout you? Sorry, I didn't inspect the date before making the post. Then again I am not expected to know anything about time since I am not from Switzerland.

  9. Perry's on Columbia is pretty good. more of a summer place with the rooftop patio
  10. Salt baked squid from NY Noodle Town with a bowl of pork and shrimp dumpling noodle soup
  11. This is sick. Do these idiots realize they're eating at McDonalds? I'm not seeing what is all that sick about it. Yes, they are owned by McDonalds, but they use all fresh stuff and they taste damn good.
  12. Charcoil flame grilled PORK hot dogs with tons of hot sauce from Ted's in Buffalo, NY....those beef things floating in a vat of dirty water on a street corner don't do it for me.
  13. I believe Atomic Wings has locations in a number of bars including Blondies and down the hatch....therefore you have been in fact eating atomic wings all along
  14. Don't say that in my hometown of Buffalo you dirty rotten heathen! The wing is the only tasty part that filth-ridden animal has!
  15. I remember that it was ok...think I went for dim sum though. Price for that wasn't bad. Best place around there is Full Kee, but I am not sure if it is open again yet and not necessarily a "nice" place for a party. It was closed all summer for renovations or something.
  16. Don't go back to Rockville...waste another year.
  17. taco bell bean burrito is great! Now you can get it fresca style which takes away the cheese which somehow you dont miss and it adds a tomato, onion and cilantro salsa that really takes it to another level....all part of their campaign to seem low fat! on the subject of taco bell though, the mexican pizza is the king of fast food!
  18. Since when does being a chef mean that you cannot advertise and make money endorsing a product. I think that some people on this site are a little full of themselves and if offered a buttload of cash to do a commercial, would jump on the chance in a second. Who cares that this guy endorses a sandwich. IT IS JUST A DAMN SANDWICH, DON'T EAT IT IF YOU DON"T LIKE IT.
  19. If you don't want to trust a number of tasters saying one thing tastes better than another thing that is fine. I am sure you know best. I think the point is that you can buy a regular piece of meat and deepen its flavors by drying it for a couple days instead of going out and spending $20/lb on buying dry-aged beef or going to a restaurant and paying $50 for it. Obviously the professionally dried one is going to be superior, but that is not the point at all.
  20. I believe the domestic ones use seeds from Italy but are grown here.
  21. I have actually been able to get actual imported san marzano canned whole tomatoes at Whole Foods in DC, but they don't always have them. I can't say as I notice a difference between the domestic and imported, but either one is better than most other brand.
  22. Michelob ultra is drinkable, but doesn't have any flavor nor does it give you a buzz...might as well have a glass of tap water and save some $$$ Funny story: last year I had a superbowl party and someone brought over 2 12 packs of the stuff. My friend drank one bottle and then took the entire unopened 12-pack and proceeded to heave it off my 9th floor balcony. Needless to say, the girl who brought it was none too pleased.
  23. I just read an article in Cook's Illustrated about dry aging in the fridge. They say to do it uncovered on a rack for 1 to 3 days and then shave off any dried out parts. In their tests even 1 day of aging made a big difference in taste tests.
  24. hands down not even a question. Taco Bell is the king! although with the ban on green onions, I don't know if it is up to the same level. What's a little hepatitis risk compared to a tasty 3am treat?
  25. Golden Unicorn is where I would be if I was in NY on a saturday for lunch.
