  1. my experience has been completely opposite.
  2. You can order it online by the case too, as I found out after moving down to VA. hell with the sauce just map out your trip to go through Syracuse and stop at the restaurant, or even Rochester (havent been to that location)!
  3. Get off at Millersport off of 290 and take the Maple road ramp and make a left. The wegman's is the preferred choice and is a mile or so on the left. They have a Charlie the Butcher set up in the prepared foods section. Get a beef on weck with lots of horseradish....best sandwich in the world! There is also a smaller Wegmans if you come up from the South on Rt. 90 near the Galleria Mall that is an easier on/off of the highway. You would have to find out the exit number though. I think it is on Walden
  4. Italian Store, Lebanese Taverna and Pollo Rico are great choices. I like Nouveau East way better than Matsutake. Gaffney's has reasonable and pretty good seafood, especially crab cakes and fried shrimp. I heard Nam Viet is open again also.
  5. It's worth mentioning that any bread product heated in the microwave will be toughened to inedibility. Obviously none of you have ever lived on Mama Celeste frozen pizzas in college. The only brand that actually comes out crispy and tasty from the microwave. Must be the metal crisping disk you put it on. Also, these nevers you have been writing seem ridiculous: -Taco Bell is the king of fast food and damn tasty....don't worry about your intestines, they need a good cleaning every now and again. -No boxed mac & cheese? You obviously aren't eating the original kraft blue box....nothing could be finer
  6. Speaking of crabcakes, I had a really good one at Gaffney's Oyster House in Ballston the other night....huge ball of big lumps, no other filler to speak of....good stuff.
  7. I just buy my Dinosaur BBQ sauce by the box from their website.....can't live without a little Wango Tango in my life.
  8. what does a wegman taste like? It's Wegman's flavored oil, not Wegman flavored oil. The difference in meaning is that in the first, Wegman is the person doing the flavoring, in the second Wegman is the flavor. Wow. Silly me, I was just going to let the bad joke slide. Thanks for backing me up with a strong case of English 101 whoopass.
  9. Did you also get the coupon for the free Wegman's flavored oil? Very exciting. Will be nice to go into a Wegman's when I don't have to clock in and push carts in the lot through a foot of snow like I did in my youth.
  10. Oh and I was not impressed with Penang. Could be because I burned my mouth on the first spoonful of some nuclear-hot soup I ordered. Then again the person I was with was not all that impressed either. Shame too because when I lived in NYC I always thought the Penang up there on the Upper East Side looked really cool from the outside but I never tried it.
  11. Wow, eating food at the MadHatter.....adventerous soul after seeing what that place is like on a Thursday night.
  12. If you can get access to it, absolutley nothing beats fresh-caught tuna. my uncle goes deep sea fishing and takes the leftovers and boils it to get that grey flakiness similar to a can and then prepares it in the standard way....mayo maybe some onion and celery. The difference in taste though is absolutely unbelievable. Nobody can stop eating it because it tastes so good and the bowl of it is picked clean in a day.
  13. Yeah I dont have it in front of me, but the basic point was to keep it really juicy since pork doesn't have any natural fat anymore. I guess the cold pan method worked well....only drawback was that it doesn't look very pretty because it doesn't get a nice sear on it.
  14. I believe this receipe actually called for a cold pan to start it off
  15. I forgot about this place. I like the sushi at Perry's quite a bit. They also have this amazing corn chowder.
  16. I was fairly unimpressed with Sushi Ko. Good bottle of wine there, but the sushi itself was not all that exciting. Kaz in Foggy Bottom is very good. Believe it or not though, my favorite places after trying a handful of places in DC is a place in the Ballston Mall called Nouveau East. The sushi there always seems very fresh (the unagi is awesome) and they always have different unusual daily specials that change every time I am in there....that also adds to the feeling that everything is fresh there. I highly recommend.
  17. I am a big fan of the noodle soups there, especially the roast pork and wonton noodle. The wontons almost explode in your mouth, and what can be said about roast pork except that it is one of the greatest creations in the world. They have a great rich broth too that I can't stop slurping up! I also like their salt-baked dishes, but only get the squid because I don't like the consistency of the scallops in that type of dish.
  18. there is some bistro select ones by lays or something like that that are awesome...chedder and sour cream.....mmmmmm
  19. I live right above rocklands and must say I am not a big fan. Boulevard Woodgrill has really good ribs, but besides that I haven't had much success with BBQ here
  20. Didn't read your post fully...never been to japan but may be going next summer, so would be interested in hearing some responses
  21. I've been to Morimoto in Philly a few times and it was awesome every time. A little out of my ordinary price range if you do the omikase but great for special occasions. Thinking of my last meal there is making my mouth water right now!

    Mass produced lagers

The first time I had Heineken on tap, I didn't know what it was. Someone handed me a glass and I didn't know what beer was in it. It was really tasty. I was surprised to learn that it was Heineken, since my only previous Heiny experience was skunked out of a bottle. I totally agree with that. Heineken has such a skunky tin-like taste from a bottle, but it tasted great at the Brewery

Labatt Blue is the King of Beers!
  24. I just saw one at williams sonoma this weekend that was enamel on the outside but just cast iron on the inside. I definitely made a "what the hell is the point in that" comment at the time.
