To make matters worse, the town has now designated one side of almost every street as Resident Parking only--and they're serious about it. So there are only half the # of spots available to "out-of-towners" now. And you're restricted to 4 hours when you can find the legal spots.

This post reminds me that I promised to arrange for an eG outing at Saffron...do you want to wait until after the holidays, or should we try to cram it in in the next few weeks? Post or PM me with your preferences, including whether you'd like to do lunch or dinner and if a weekday/night is better than a weekend day/eve. So many questions, I know...

I am not, not, NOT a baker, but my first thought is that you could drizzle them with some white chocolate, and if you wanted to, you could flavor the chocolate with cinnamon or even a little bit more Kahlua... If you can come up with the name, I'd love to know it, as I have JoC and am looking for more easy cookie recipes for this year! Thanks.

Would you be willing to share the recipes for these?!? I'm determined to make an assortment of biscotti this year, and have been collecting recipes--these sound great! Thanks in advance... Curlz

Well, I just placed my order for kitchen gadgets, thankyouverymuch! Some for gifts, some for me. Fwiw, they have a 4-pack of the flexible cutting boards for $2.99!!! Thought I'd alert you all to a discount for Miles Kimball...you can get free shipping on orders of $45 or more...the offer expires in 5 days (12/07/2004). Just enter this coupon code when you're at checkout: 3940582I. Happy shopping!!

Yes, Rosie, there was eel...WAS being the operative word there. You can see it in Tracey's picture...it's the dark brown stuff with the 'tie' around it. And it's cooked, which is how it gets that lovely golden color. Fwiw, the rolls that they make there are really creative...one of my friends enjoys the Donkey Kong roll, which is (I think) tuna with fried bananas on top! I agree with Stinger--this is not a high end place, and today's service was certainly LACKING. But their fish is always fresh, the specials are a great bargain, and it's also BYO--all pluses in my book!

WHOO HOO! GO Tracey! I'm quite impressed that you managed to post that, esp b/c you were so concerned about how to do it. Careful, or you may become one of our designated photographers...

And Lou continued to have fun at Rosie's expense at lunch today...'tho she really did keep handing him material! Good to see y'all today, and I think everyone agreed that Nori is doing the right stuff. Considering that I'm not a huge sushi eater, I'll let others post their thoughts, but I'll say again that their lunch special is a HUGE bargain. Soup, salad (iceberg lettuce, but with ginger dressing--yum), gyoza or shumai (dumplings), and two rolls--all for $12.95. I do think that the others will agree that my favorite roll there, the Snoopy, is pretty awesome. Shrimp tempura roll with an incredibly crunchy and think peanut 'sauce' on it. There's something about the warm tempura with the peanut butter that's just...well...DELISH. ChefDavid took some pics, which I'm sure he'll get on line promptly; Tracey I'm not so sure about! And of course, I expect the rest of you to post full reports on the boatloads of sushi you ate. Tracey, Stinger and the Mrs, great to meet you, and I hope to see you all at future eG gatherings!! The rest of you...well, you know.

Thanks a lot, Andie...just what I needed--another site for kitchen stuff!!!

Quick or not, we hope you can make it, Lou!

The last list posted for tomorrow is the final version, as far as I know. FYI, there's a municipal parking lot 1/2 block in from Bloomfield Ave on (if Mapquest is right) Gould Avenue. If you're headed East on Blmfld Ave (going towards Verona/Montclair), pass Nori on the right, and take the first right--that should be Gould, and the lot is on the left (even if it isn't Gould)! And/or find an open meter on Bloomfield. See y'all there at 12:30! And a reminder--cash makes life easier when tallying up the bill... Curlz

Article about Pickleicious in today's Star Ledger...

It's expensive? The article said it's $12.98 at Zabar's...I'd think that anywhere else, it might be even a few dollars less!
-
Good one, Stone!! I wondered about that too...

How many members are there on eG these days...?

There's info on this very topic in today's NYTimes food section! They mention a new gadget called a Chestnutter...full story is at the bottom of this page! X Marks the Perfect Spot for Easy Chestnuts

I just saw this stuffing holder and immediately thought of this thread! $12.50. Pretty cool... And I can't believe how many posts I've missed in just a few days (settings are definitely screwy on the new eG), so my apologies if someone already mentioned it--but I can't believe that they have!

Megaroo, could you elaborate on the peppermint marshmallows?!? Sounds like that would be a great gift along with some hot chocolate mix...do you make that as well? Tell! Tell! Please? Curlz
