Cool! Thank you...I'm forwarding all of these to him.

Methinks that the words bachelor party, juciest and succulent shouldn't really be in the same sentence, but you ARE talking about Fink's, so I'll let it slide this time!
-
Thanks for these suggestions...sadly, the notification system hasn't been working (that's on the OTHER thread), so I didn't know there had been any replies to my post. THANK YOU!! And feel free to keep 'em coming! I do believe he's going to be downtown, but I'll confirm that. Curlz

They are good, and are all friends of Mark Skanga who played for us at The Village Green back in May. ← THAT makes it more enticing!!

What they all said. Seriously...glad you're doing well, and you know you have a loyal audience here, so the news about your reopening for one day a week sure does make us happy! Keep feeling better, Fink!

But Lou, don't you still think it's better for them to see your name over and over again?!? Sorta like sticking it to 'em, as far as I'm concerned! And it didn't keep me from adding you anyway, so PFFFFFT!

Fwiw, I've done this before, and they do indeed send you a copy of the book at no charge. Great for looking up addresses/phone numbers.

A close friend who lives in DC just called to say "I know you can get this info for me...what are the top 5 trendy/great restaurants in LA?!?" He's pitching a movie, and feels that he needs to have this info so he can answer the question of "Where should we have lunch?" when he's out there. Cost doesn't seem to be his concern--he wants to have the knowledge when he's chatting with people out there. So I'm turning to my fellow eGulleteers--with thanks in advance!

Endless Vine? Never heard of it, but I'm always looking for more places with live music. TELL! TELL!

Was in Montclair late yesterday afternoon with my mom and my brother, so we popped in to Indigo Smoke. We were the only table (around 4pm), but that didn't surprise me. I've decided that for the sake of their tasty food, I'm just going to have to overlook their service issues. As we've said many times in this thread, they're just not 'there' when it comes to their wait staff. Yesterday's amusement was about them being too on top of us. "Are you done with that? No, we're still eating it." "Are you done with that NOW?" Sigh. It wasn't like they needed the plates for the crowd...! Then again, the wait staff was mostly young (as in--"WOW, he's a KID" young). However, the woman behind the counter who was screaming to the entire staff as we entered that "This is so f'ng messed up" was an adult. Yikes. Restaurant owners, take note: we DO see/hear these things. Maybe you need to remind your staff of that! Sides and biscuits are terrific as always, as were the beef ribs I had--first time for those. And those whipped sweet potatoes are just heavenly, even if they're just a tad oversaturated with butter and (I'm guessing) cream. My mom declared it like eating pie. I agreed, but noted that at least we were saving carbs since there's no crust! The food is really tasty there, so as long as I'm in a patient mood, I'll be back.

Couldn't agree more!! Their 'small' is almost 2 scoops, I think.

Did anyone see the piece on BH@SB this morning on the CBS Morning Show? I turned it on just in time to catch the last 20 seconds.

I was also going to suggest Chef Central...

Dec. 1st at 7pm for a demo, tasting and book signing. Laura Schenone, autor of A Thousand Years Over a Hot Stove will be there on Sat. Dec. 4th at 11:30am for a demo, tasting and signing. One of these days I'm going to start charging for posts of this nature!

Haven't been to JP Lee's in a loooong time, but it's Mongolian BBQ. There's a 'bar' of sauces, veggies and frozen shaved chicken, beef and pork...you put what you want into a giant bowl, they cook it for you on the big flat-topped grill, and they bring it to the table. Pretty average, iirc.

I think all-you-care-2 was asking if we knew of one, Brian, but you can go with him! The only one I know of opened recently in (shock) Lyndhurst. It's nearby; as soon as I can make a pass, I'll get the name for you. No clue if it's any good or not!

According to the Mesob Web Site, "A bar at the center of the restaurant is a work of art unto itself, topped with translucent leather scrolls lit from within and writ with characters of the Ethiopian alphabet." WHY HAVE A BAR WITHOUT A LIQUOR LICENSE? Edit: Just saw this... Live - Ethiopian Classical Music (tentative - call to confirm the weekend of) on Nov 5 and 6 2004 Live Ethiopian Classical music would be playing on this Friday and Saturday night, this is a great opportunity to get the full cultural experience. note: schedule marked tentative since we are inviting the musician from out of state, please call to confirm, Thanks. Thanks for bringing this place up, Tommy--I'd never heard of it! Go. And report!!

If you say so, I'm sure it is! I thought it had changed owners and therefore, possibly the name.
-
I'm sure that there are others, but the place on Bloomfield Ave right across the street from Whole Foods is the REAL DEAL! Wish I could remember the name of it...

Hmm. Have you been to what used to be Sonoma Grill in E. Rutherford? I haven't... Whaddya know about Orbis in Montclair? Drove past there the other day and realized I knew nada. How about Belmont Tavern?!? Better yet, pick yourself up a quart or so of that Graham Central Station ice cream from Applegate Farms and go HOME!

She didn't make it on Monday due to major traffic (and communication) issues; they told us at about 7:45pm that they had just spoken with her and she was still sitting in NYC traffic after 1 1/2 hours. The lecture has been rescheduled for Monday Nov. 15th at 7:30pm. According to the letter I received at home, they're issuing refunds to those who can't make the new date, so I'm guessing that they'll also accept new registrations. The main number is 973-746-6637. Hope that helps! Curlz

On another note, I am officially addicted to Graham Central Station at Applegate Farms. I don't know why, as it's far sweeter than most things that I like, but there's something about the creaminess of the ice cream and the graham crackers and the chocolate flecks, and... Addicted. As in, I don't want to know the location of the AF that's about a mile from my house, because by keeping the Montclair location as the closest (in my brain), I actually have to drive about 5 miles if I want my 'fix'--something I'm hoping not to do TOO often!!

Holly, if you're talking about the corner of Rts 10 and 202 in Morris Plains/Parsippany, it's been a looooooooooooooooooong time since you've been to NJ! Having moved there almost (gulp) 30 years ago, I do remember that there were once cows on the land--land that now houses a massive office complex that stretches a good half mile down 202 and 10. It includes the Parsippany Hilton, Prudential, and a zillion other buildings. Oh, and Llewellyn Farms is now a CHEVY'S. With a Barnes & Noble next door. It would freak you out--trust me!! Curlz
