    Fresh herb primer

I use up leftover herbs in omlettes or tossed over pasta with some olive oil and sauteed garlic.
  2. Jenny, I think it's a sign
  3. Doc's post reminded me that there is usually at least one stand at the Dupont Market that sells mozzarella. Don't know if they are year round or seasonal though
  4. Vace does carry mozzarella at both the Conn. Ave and Bethesda location. It's behind the counter so you have to ask for it. Further up Conn. Ave in Chevy Chase, Marcella's also sells amazing mozzarella.
  5. When he and Hillary first came to DC, their every dining experience was publicized. The Post's gossip page kept us locals abreast of every place he ate, from the number of pizza's ordered during a battle with the Hill to the newest dining establishment he tried. During Reagan's administration the biggest foodie news was that he liked jelly beans.
  6. Why can't there be more than two battles? Any region that can put together a team is in. We pick a theme ingredient that is the same for all battles. The pantries can then be stocked similarly, if not perfectly the same. $50 spent on veggies, $30 spent on condiments, everyone has homemade stock on hand, uses kosher salt, etc. Or everyone has 4 kinds of veggies, 4 condiments, etc. It would be interesting to see what is available in each region at the same time of year. If we wait until summer the veggie and fruit selection will be better in North America and most of Europe. Documenting would be easy with digital pics. I volunteer to sit on the DC panel
  7. Brazillian Food Part2 I have created a monster. Seven monsters actually. All they think about is Doce de leite in warm milk. They start and end each day asking for it. They bug and nag and nag and bug for more. They scheme amongst themselves about ways to convince their leader to feed the new habit. All to no avail.
  8. We may need to do an egullet road trip! The views are amazing. I can't imagine waking up and seeing such beauty every day. Enjoy
  9. So for once I don't read every single DC thread and looks what happens! We finally get a DC event planned. Thanks JU for updating me. Count me in. John, if went on a Friday or Saturday we could go when you get off of work. Or should we come to you? Egullet takes over, I kind of like it! I'll start saving now
  10. chocolate covered marshmellow egg
  11. Who knew about Kantouri? I never had the guts to stop and try it Who delivers from free that also use ala carte?
  12. I always wondered about Hibachi. What is good there? Spices also delivers, although I would stay away from getting the sushi. Let's just say it goes right threw ya. Tono Sushi also delivers and isn't half bad for delivery sushi. Otherwise the pickings are way too slim. There is only so much Chinese that one can eat. Spicy Noodle and the sit down place next door (in the office building) have been around forever. I have never seen anyone in there, nor do I know anyone who has dined there. Definately "other" business going on.
  13. Yuck, blech, icky, gross Especially when you were expecting chocolate. ewwwwwww
  14. I've always wanted one, but I already have a regular blender I don't use a ton. Have those of you who have made the big switch found you blend more? Does it mean I can get rid of my big blender?
  15. Nah, even better. I gave that much caffine to special ed. 9 and 10 year old boys It was only a little........ There was only a little more climbing of the walls than usual. They keep asking for it though.
  16. WE could use some Brazillian heat right about now. Thanks for the proper pronunciation lesson! We had the rest of our Brazillian food last week. I will post about the lesson later (when I am not in a night school class!).
  17. You're just figuring this out Now the sushi I picked up on the way home from work doesn't look as appealing.
  18. I second the Pepe's location. The first time I got drunk with my parents was while sipping margarita's there while inhaling oysters. Make sure you pick up an ice scrapper. The slogan is "We wish you were here too" A few blocks closer to Duval is a Key Lime bakery that sells pie by the slice. Have a drink while watching the sunset for me. Be prepared for the commercialization of Duval street. The place could be any mall in America with all the stores that have taken over
  19. tjaehnigen-you are two for two. Oddles is still there and South Beach did relocate. Matuba and Tako Grill have good sushi and Tako has great sake drinks. Rockbottom has good beer but just okay food. Don't bother with Caddyshack. The pizza place next door is pretty good, but Mama Lucia's is better
  20. Ahhh, you mean Mrs. Fine's (atleast that is what it used to be called). Love her Challah and lace cookies Before the renovatoin they used to have wonderful iced cookies, but that is another thread.
  21. 'cause I get to chop garlic and imagine it is my boss' head
  22. The first couple of warm weekends every spring you can't get a table at the Parthenon. Now that the Avalon reopened there should be an increase in business on the weekend.
  23. Wasn't he one of People's Sexiest Men a few years ago? The cupcakes taste better when he's around
  24. At my cousin's house yesterday (in Buck's County) she had Wild Cherry Canada Dry. What's with the soda up there?
