    Bastard condiments?

Dijon mustard, mayonnaise, and hot sauce. Dijon mustard and salsa (Discovered it in a recipe as a topping/sauce for chicken breasts, along with melted cheddar, scallions, etc).
  10. I saved this on my favorites awhile ago - Haven't tried these yet, but they look very good and are supposed to be thin and crispy. http://eatingetc.blogspot.com/2008/03/coco...nk-cookies.html Here's another one to check out: http://find.myrecipes.com/recipes/recipefi...cipe_id=1160557

  15. I lived in NYC for many, many years and always loved the Olive Tree (mostly middle Eastern, but also has other types of food). It's very, very low priced with really good food and a funky atmosphere. The Middle Eastern platter was fantastic, as were many other dishes. I haven't been there for several years now, since I moved out of NY, but from the reviews, it sounds like it's still a great place. They don't have a website, but here are some reviews: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&um=1&ie=...462233762398033
  16. I've always wanted to make this - was recommended by a friend - uses 6 large poblano peppers: STUFFED CHA-CHA CRAB CHILIES. Will PM the recipe to you if you're interested.

    Dinner! 2008

Thanks! The vinaigrette is from Mexican Everyday -- Google "smoky chipotle-balsamic dressing" or click here. The garden was flush with basil, so we tossed a handful into the blender with the other vinaigrette ingredients. ← Thanks a lot!
  18. Ah, never mind - disregard my previous post directly above this one - I saw from your post on Mimi's that this is yet another CI muffin recipe, called "Best Blueberry muffins with streusel topping!"
  19. Hey Kim, Are you sure these are the "Best Blueberry Muffins", and not the "Blueberry Muffins?" The recipe I have for the Blueberry muffins contains lemon zest, but I don't see it in the one for the Best blueberry muffins. I found the Best blueberry recipe on another site - Could the poster have omitted the lemon from the recipe? Thanks.

That looks fantastic! The vinaigrette sounds great, too - is the recipe posted somewhere?
  21. Ditto. It always used to come out gummy when simmered in a pot, so I switched to a rice cooker years ago, and it's perfect every time - nice firm grains. Plus, I prefer the taste - it has a slight nutty taste. White rice is bland to me now.
  22. They look great! I have two CI blueberry muffin recipes in my files. Are these the "Best Blueberry Muffins?"

  25. Dejah, Looks good! I was planning to make this, and will also be using frozen blueberries. Normally, I don't defrost berries in baked stuff, but this recipe specifically says to have the fruit at room temperature. So... did you defrost and drain them or just leave them frozen? Thanks. ← I did defrost them and left them in a bowl on the counter. Didn't drain them, and hindsight tells me I should maybe drain or add more cornstarch to thicken the sauce a bit more. Maybe Minute Tapioca would work better? I like the "runniness" of the innards, but a little thicker would be good also. ← Thanks. I'll try them undrained - I like the juices!
