Mmm, that sounds pretty good, Sam. I had to check their website to see if it weren't one of their menu combos (it isn't).

I've edited the above list with some of the info I missed before. Anyone have the hours for the Livingston Mall market? And, is it in a parking lot or in the mall? TIP: Print out the first post with the schedule (I go to print this topic, then print preview and just print the first two pages), and keep it in the glove compartment of your car. That way if you are driving around running errands or something where you aren't in a hurry, you can check which markets are open wherever you happen to be that day. Actually, 7-10 vendors is a pretty big farmer's market this year. Most I've been to have been in the 3-5 vendor range. We still haven't been to Englewood this year, but even Teaneck only had 6 vendors. We went to Ridgewood today and introduced ourselves to the mozzarella vendor. Unfortunately, he had just sold out and was packing up for the day, so we didn't get to buy any (oh well, we still have some of the ball we bought in Teaneck last week). However, I did get his business card and invited him to check out eGullet. Perhaps he'll stop in to say hello. Like it was mentioned above, they have shop but it is closed for the summer. Right now they are only selling ouf the Ridgewood market on Sundays. He said he wanted to get into other markets, but no luck so far. (Perhaps we could list the markets in northern NJ that don't have a cheese vendor, so at least he won't waste his time contacting ones that do?) Yeah, I was thinking that was a bad example as well, Jon. How about a sauteed dish? Or heck, even a grilled cheese! A real grilled cheese, not one that's really a grilled ham & cheese.

I don't think we're reacting negatively to a restaurant trying to do better. I think that we're worried they've put so much into all the doo-dads that it may scare off customers, which may lead to a decline in quality or service over time. I wish them luck and wish I lived close enough to try it out. However, I don't think you should call a sandwich where the first ingredient listed is Virginia Ham, a "Grilled Cheese."

Ah, I found what I was really looking for on eBay, Super Simon.

I'm worried that a disco floor cake would like like Simon.

I have a feeling it's still on the shelf for their older customers who still consider it something for the medicine chest rather than the kitchen pantry. Hopefully, someone from eckerd.com will come on and let us know who buys this stuff.

Ah, here it is: Eckerd Olive Oil. It's listed under First Aid/Alcohol & Antiseptics. I'm going to email their customer service for more info.

I did a search for olive oil on Drugstore.com and several products came up, but none where the only ingredient is olive oil; soaps and body or facial scrubs.

"over the age of 21" They don't give an upper limit.

Any eGulleters going to audition? If there's voting by the public, you'll have a great support out here in cyberspace.

Where is that? It sounds like NY, but I couldn't find a listing for it on yp.yahoo.

Excellent article. With those hours, it's no wonder that she hasn't had time to post an update. I particularly think it is great that she has physically partnered with her neighbor, a coffee shop, via french doors between the two shops. Did she never mention that here or did I just miss it?

We went to the Teaneck Farmers Market today. Several produce vendors, two baked good vendors. And, a mozzarella stand, that also sold bread stuffed with cheese and vegetables (i.e. broccoli rabe, broccoli). Please note, the Teaneck market has changed locations from last year. It's across the street and behind the bank from where it was last year. Much better location in a large parking lot. I've edited the above list.

Just to clarify, those were (2) half trays.

Do you have a Korean supermarket near you? Look in the meat section, for bulgogi. It's nice and thin ribeye, already sliced. Just cook in a searing hot cast iron skillet or griddle, with peppers & onions, instead of a sweet marinade.

I'm glad I gave you a laugh, but I was perfectly serious.

Good point there about the cost. Lime juice + simple syrup costs a lot less and tastes better. So what if the "correct" gimlet includes Rose's or not? Use fresh ingredients and call it an eGimlet.

I really just don't "get" savory foams. I understand the sweet ones, many of which seem like a variety of flavored whipped cream, but the savory ones baffle me. My first experience with a savory foam was at a modern restaurant in NYC (whose name begins with the initials of the chef and ends with the address number). It was a pumpernickel foam on a poached egg (as part of a chicken dish). You know what pumpernickel foam looks like? That scum you skim off stock, only worse. So, it's pumpernickel flavored with a mushy texture. Wouldn't pumpernickel toast points have made vastly more sense? I guess my point is, if you're going to make a savory foam, make sure the final product isn't drab gray, and that the texture makes sense as well.

You could do the Nemo sushi. Bring a Nemo card or other artwork to one of those places that can do the edible printouts. If it is the local supermarket, and you don't want a shortening frosted cake, then see if you can just pay for the printout. Make your own cake with delicious ingredients (or buy a plainly decorated cake from a good bakery) and lay the gum paste (?) artwork on top.

I made it to the Hasbrouck Heights market today. Just as small as last year: two produce vendors and a pickle guy (Dr. Pickle). Got some ripe juicy peaches, plums, tomatoes, basil, cherries, cukes, carrots, radishes. Stopped in at Han Ah Reum to fill in some gaps, I'm still going to give the local farmers/vendors my business but the prices are just so damn cheap at HAR, and the quality is usually so good, much better than my Stop & Shop, but I digress. Peaches. Mmm.

Great, now I want a bagel.

Cookin' in Brooklyn on Discovery Home channel (286 on DirecTV) has a Bastille Day episode on this week (it airs about 7 more times, here's a link to the schedule). The show is sort of silly/kitch, in a way similar to Mario Eats Italy, only in Brooklyn, NY. In this episode, there was an interesting visit to D'Artagnan in Newark, NJ, then the host, Alan Harding, cooked various French or French inspired delicacies at a Bastille Day street fair in Brooklyn. Recipes: Merguez (Lamb Sausage) with Mustard Rouille: French Mayonnaise Grilled Duck Liver with Apricot and Bacon Duck Salad Peach and Blueberry Compote with Crepes

You could also roll it out to 10 inches in anticipation of it shrinking to 9.
