Melbournian green thumbs...

Hey guys...any Melbournians know of any garden centres in Melbourne that have a wide variety of herbs and vegetables.... In the process of planting 4 garden beds at work, wanting to rely on it heavily over the warmer months... After some of the less common stuff... asian celery, wing beans, upland cress etc etc So anyone who can list a garden centre that stocks a big range of seedlings out of the norm, would be much appreciated..........

Also have some new New photo food blogs for anyone interested.

Diggers stocks seeds. Not sure about seedlings. If I can find their number I'll pm it to you. As an afterthought, it might be far for you to drive there.

I was out Lilydale way today and I noticed there is a herb farm just past the town (approaching from Melbourne). Might be a good place to try if you haven't had any luck yet.

Had an interesting visit to Daylesford a while back (http://www.cookingdownunder.com/outabout/daylesford/index.htm). I will have to check out Sault in a future visit!

Hey a local almost. :-)

Diggers Seeds also own the Garden of St Erth in Blackwood, which is a bit closer to Daylesford than Dromana. They carry a wide range of vegetable and herb seeds, as well as plants in pots. Lots of unusual and exotic varieties. The advantage of the Garden of St Erth is is that they carry stock which will grow successfully in this climate.

Sadly, although it's just up the road from me, I've never visited it, so don't know if they sell herbs, but I'd assume so.
