can anyone recommend a good restaurant in or near Easton, PA. I'm visiting my parents in a few weeks and would like to avoid the Olive Garden and local diner this time and bring them out to a nice restaurant. They have lived there about 3 years and i have spent a lot of time there but have still not found a good restaurant (although there is a really good local frozen yogurt place). I am willing to drive 30 minutes from Easton. Any suggestions?

I've heard good things about The Farmhouse:

A good friend of mine LOVES The Farmhouse, and it got a good review from LaBan in the Inquirer, but I haven't been there yet. Emmaus would be a pretty easy half hour drive down route 78 from Easton. I think it would be worth it.

(I just followed the link in the above post, and see that it quotes the LaBan review... so, you knew that already! Nevermind...)

Try Evermay on the Delaware, a country inn 30 minutes down the Delaware River. The chef's tasting menu is $74 and based off of produce grown on the property and locally sourced.

If you like Italian and/or seafood, go to Pan e vino on Schoenersville Rd in Bethlehem.

byob. no reservations.

The most authentic Mexican is at Garibaldi's, in Easton.

it's a dive, but the food is good.

You might try Cavallos', 510 S Delaware Dr Easton. Tel 610-252-2500. I haven't been there in a couple of years but the food is wonderful and the atmosphere very unique. Shirley Cavallo cooks a 5 course prix fixe meal with what is available that day. No menu, I think it was around $120-150 per couple, BYOB. Certainly nothing like it in the Lehigh Valley.

I'd like to throw in a late vote for The Farmhouse. The place is delightful. They have 100's of excellent beers (with all the Belgian trappists) and single malts, and the food (Contemporary American standard stuff, but interesting, fresh and local, not like the many 'inns' around) is great in its class. The Farmhouse interior has been kept intact, so you have a choice of different cozy little rooms in which to dine. And the basement houses a dark little scotch bar. I grew up right around there and its the only place I know of with such modern style and taste.

Drink maker, heart taker!

Went to the Farmhouse last weekend and loved it. Atmosphere is very nice, with the original small rooms kept that way. I had grilled salmon with yummy artichoke risotto. Other entrees were very well liked: flank steak, veal steak and crabcake. Great beer selection. Our personable waitress showed us the downstairs bar and lounge after dinner. There is private seating down there but I would worry about smoking, as it is allowed at the bar. This place is unique in that area.
