That area has been difficult for restaurants I think due to the lack of close by parking. The Barcelona space was many other restaurants in its prior life. Barcelona seems to be hanging in pretty well.

i stumbled upon this site looking up Rebecca's in glenville as i am considering them as a future tenant in one of my buildings.

i am a greenwich resident and i only like a few restaurants in town. most of them have been mentioned in this post, but i think valbella got left out.

baang always seems to have people emphatically defending or attacking it, i prefer China Grill (baang is basically a low rent copy) but baang is good if you don't feel like driving into the city.

hunan gourmet is just a typical chinese restaurant. panang is much better, but the menu is very small.

Barcelona is prob'ly my current favorite. the service is terrible, but it's tapas, so who cares?

I hope Rebecca's is not moving out of Glenville, but I could see where they might consider it. It's a great place.

I've been to Valbella twice and it's pretty good, but in my opinion not head and shoulders above other Italian places in the area.

I checked the Zagat guide to see what they said about it and it was not listed. This seems odd, since it is a "high end" restaurant and has been around for probably 4-5 years.

Not odd at all--- Zagat plays politics to the nth degree, and is also very surreptitious as to how it comes up with the ratings numbers. (The survey only goes from 1 to 5, yet their book numbers go up to 28) (!)

We have discussed this extensively on the NY and NJ boards, and most have concluded high negatives when it comes to Zagat.

It is actually more important to be listed in Zagat with a low rating than not to be listed at all!!

Try Ristorante DiSopra, an Italian restaurant that open a few weeks ago. The food is amazing! If you can't get to Italy for a meal Di Sopra is the absolute next best thing. I was fooled. Be on the look out – their tucked away on the second, above The Ginger Man on Greenwich Ave.

If none of you have tried it yet, I definitely recommend the Homestead in Belle Haven. Thomas Henklemann is the chef there. Not only is the cuisine exceptional, with a good wine selection, but the service is old world; not the brash kind of new money treatment one receives at a place like Rebeccas (although her food is good, I admit).
