I'm currently working as a Chef in NYC but have been thinking of going to Spain and working in Barcelona. Has anyone done this, was it easy, how was the pay, how did you fit in, any info you can give me would be great-Thanks

I tried to find work in Madrid many years ago, after spending the previous 2 yrs in Japan, and every chef I met admired my experience, but said no. Their immigration/worker policies are too strict. Now if you're looking to just go and do a stage(unpaid), shouldn't be a big deal if you can find a kitchen to get into. Also, you will have to speak fluent castillian spanish, at kitchen service speed.

I'm a chef de partie at Comerç 24, having started here last year as a stagiere. It is true that you will be expected to perform an unpaid stage, but it won't necessarily be for long. Not trying to use this as a platform to promote my blog, but if you check out the stories I've filed on my professional work, it may give you some ideas about working in a restaurant in Barcelona.
