  1. You know we spent hours coming up with that outfit By the way, on behalf of everyone else, your husband is wrong. You can bring your bread anytime you want. Please tell Mrs. S that she is welcomed at any and all future meetings. What, the club has a uniform? No one told me about that. I will have to notify my haberdasher. Or is it a sort of camoflauge only for use in urban-suburban club meetings, and not meant for the more serious rural investagatory work where they might not understand?
  2. What color is your Weber? The reason I ask is because, if you drill a hole, you might want to touch it up a bit with some high heat spray paint to prevent rust. Spray the hole on both sides before you bolt the handle back on.
  3. Isn't July 5 the day that most will have off of work because July 4 is on Sunday? I was thinking more along the lines of the middle of the week, Tue., Wed. or Thurs. I already have one vote for Thursday. Also, once we have enough people good to go for a certain day, I need to check with the restaurant. Come to think of it, I think Ray's is closed on Mondays during the summer.
  4. I'd like to shoot for the week of July 5, assuming we can pick an evening that works for enough people. Please state your preference. Also, my experience is that an early evening time frame is better for the restaurant. I am thinking 6:00.
  5. I'd almost venture to say that sounds like the 17th street branch of Capitol Grounds. I've never been in, but I've walked by, and IIRC, it's basically a storefront with a counter. Much smaller than the 21st and Penn. Any other distinguishing features/menu items? Capitol Grounds is on 17th, between K and L. I had my first cuban sandwich this afternoon. Since I have nothing to compare it to, I will withhold judgment. Next stop is the burrito wagon on the corner.
  6. Why don't we discuss the idea of an eGullet event over HERE?
  7. I talked to Chef Michael the other evenging about doing an eGullet outing to Ray's the Steaks and he said that he has several very good wines in the $20-30 range. If we could 6-8 committed eGulleteers, and could give him a couple of days advance warning, we might even be able to get him to do something special for us (by special, I mean go out of his way to procure some special steaks for us). Also, I would go long on styrofoam container futures, Chef Michael's portions are so prodigious that very few of his "clients" leave without one. And Chef Michael, if you read this, my daugther thanks you for the "container" you sent home for her with me on Friday evening. It certainly painted a big smile on her face when she got done with lifeguarding on Saturday. For you steak addicts, Chef Michael is the best pusher in town. Spelling Edits
  8. Where is the Rib Pit, and is it open on Sundays?
  9. How about picnic tables and beer taps? How about some shade?
  10. Let's invite some of the employees from Good Guys to our event! Strippers and BBQ - sounds like a good combination to me. Could give a whole new meaning to "smoke'n butts."
  11. Let's invite some of the employees from Good Guys to our event! I think they might be independant contractors.
  12. Al: If you want to show off your butt (your girlfriend should like that), I can do brisket instead.
  13. Count me in for either barbeque pork butt (brined) or brisket, whichever is on sale.
  14. Is this owned by the same people that own meinu?
  15. I was able to get pictures of the happy couple. Click on the article's www reference and then click on the linked "Steve Klc."
  16. OK. I'll bite. Who has the "first" best cuban sandwich in the city?
  17. You are a hop, skip and jump from Arlandria. There is RT's on Mt. Vernon, Po Siam's across the street from RT's..... all kinds of stuff over there. A peruvian chicken place. If you like Philadelphia style cheese steaks, check out Al's Steak shop at Mt. Vernon and Monroe (del Ray area).
  18. Tutto Italiano has good pizza, and they deliver.
  19. I think this is the cart that is run by the guy that used to be a senior associate at one of the big law firms down town. He chucked it all to sell burritos.
  20. There is a burrito stand at 17th & K? Which corner, the east of the part, or west?
