  2. That already happened but no camera's involved.....I must admit, it was pretty cool...Tony is a stand up guy.....
  3. Dude that is so funny!...well you could be my Dad..hows that! Hawaii.....well lets just say that its #1 on my go to list if we get picked up for another season...I could do some damage over there....
  4. There was a lot of seafood...but hey, it was Boston....I think it came out pretty good...I liked the first scene w the Lobster and walk around the north end...and the scene a e gullets ababer at the Chinese place....those dumplings were the bomb! New York is next week then Miami for the last show....
  5. Like Jan said, I am inHarrisburg now, doing the farm show in the morning and a charity beer and dinner pub event in the evening...then its back to L.A. on Sunday....
  6. Its Ceoltas...just come and have fun and raise a bit of money....we put this together yesterday...I called a detective there and wammo, instant charity event....the pub owner is gonna have some specials and I am gonna auction off a couple of my (new) hawaiian shirts I wear in the show....make sure you come say hi! I will try not to get too sauced! gotta go get on the plane now...
  7. FWIW, I am putting together a charity event at 310 n second st (the Irish Pub) this Sat Jan 6th at 630 pm (after the farm show) to help raise money for domestic violence shelters along the the Harrisburg Police....so if anyone wants to come have a good time and a few beers please joins us!
  8. Yea, that crunch was amazing! I would kill for some of the brisket too! Next week is a new show (Boston) and Lobster Fra Diavlo in the north end and Sam Adams Beer Ice Cream at JP Licks!
  9. Well, that is how it really happened, we went in for steaks and Margie told us about Chicken Fried Lobster.....that was a no brainer, although we did worry a bit about how the execs would like it....(they all want to go eat it now)....We look through a menu at every place, ask about specials and Sean Omalley and I decide what we are going to eat....we try to mix it up a a bit for each show....although an entire show about great hamburgers etc could work just fine....but it would have to be in several cites.... Oh, the steaks at Binions.....very good...in fact we ate there another night off camera and I had a fantastic petitie filet and a tail....done to perfection....w a great view that you just cant get anywhere else in Vegas except the Stratosphere...
  10. Gonna be in Philly thursday night, friday morning...then off to Harrisburg for the show, staying 2 nights....I am cooking w the Lt Gov at the show...I heard she is fun, should be a blast... I am pretty stoked to be able to get a cheesesteak again....oh yea, and I am gonna try and eat at Mezzaluna if I can...this time w out camera's...I really liked that place.. Chris
  11. Wow, butter burger at Solly's....what can I say...its a burger, topped w tasty butter....we had a fantastic dinner at coerpers 5 oclock club....giant 30 oz porterhouse and a 16 oz filet....cooked to perfection, w that brown pan sauce over the top....wow...and the fliet was only 38 bucks...w tons of sides, a real bargain for sure.... I had a blast, sat in the end zone for the first half and a skybox the second.....both were great....I was kinda bummed as the only reason I had to use my new parka for was to sit my ass on it...oh well....great trip, I think I will try to come back for sure!
  12. We just went to Solly's and had a butter burger...wow....what a treat that that was....we are going to the 5 oclock club in an hr for some dinner...then offf to sleep and then the game
  13. Don't know what it will be on...I am doing a few morning shows on Fri the 5th as well as some radio...I am doing a couple of fun cooking demo's....gonna do flank teak taco's w a red wine glaze and rasberry corn salsa and an Aztec Chicken soup..... I am pretty excited about it....I was really impressed w the produce I got to see at the farmers market and at capagiro (the sorbet place) when filming Philly.....plus I get to have some more cheesesteaks! I am off to green bay in the morning to fulfill a lifelong drean of watching the Packers play a home game!...plus I am gonna track down one of those butter burgers I keep hearing about!
  14. I hate oyesters, thats why Jeff ate them and I had the shrimp....The grits were awesome, and the chili sunday...oh yea...in fact all of the food in Charleston was fantastic....it was my favorite city of the series...great people, great place...but then again, all of the cities we went were really good. I saw a rough cut of Miami the other day, looks cool...there is a scene where I hop on a lobster boat and ride it down the Miami river to a place serving lobster thermidor!
  15. Yea, if we get another season we want to hit Portland for sure! The fish market out here is amazing and translated well to the show! Thanks, Chris
  16. Neal has the best pork around...what dishes did you get? Did you try the butter leaf salad....or the coconut lobster soup..oh yea!
  17. The Daily Breeze thing was nice, we didnt put it in the intro to all the shows cause of legal stuff...but got permission for this shoot... The bowling....I suck, it was supposed to be "I didnt come here to bowl, see its obvious cause I suck at it"....but I hit the strike and went with it.....I could never have done it again...the shot came out perfect, camera, strike and my impromptu line...so we left it in! Next week is Charleston...what an amazing place!
  18. No cops in this one, although the Japanese guy eating a shrimp at Gardena bowl is one of my Sgts and the woman with him eating is Muffin210 from eG...oh and the guy eating in the background at Rizzo's is none other than our own Russell Wong! St Arnold....yes it was, and damn it was good....we actually taped a bit where we mention the beer by name....but alas...time was against us! I just watched the L.A. show and now I am starved....gotta go to work at 1....so where to eat lunch today.....Cajun, Hawaiian or Breadsticks! Oh and next week (Charleston) eG gets a big mention!
  19. I know...its really fast....in fact I tasted all 3 tacos..the asada, al pastor and carnitas...feel free to let them know you want more time or less places...we could easily make a 60 min show w the footage we have....The bowling alley..funny story...I suck at bowling and was supposed to say, I came here to eat, not bowl for obvious reasons...but then I hit a strike and went with it....
  20. Wow, that butter burger looks amazing....heart stopping goodness...I might have to get one!
  21. Thanks...the e mails really help as the network reads them all....I know a lot of people TIVO the show due to its late time slot....but TIVO does not factor into ratings and such....The network has said they got a lot of feedback from viewers. I think we will be able to explore a bit more if we get more episodes....We did manage to get ethnic into most episodes...in fact L.A. is almost all ethnic... I think you will like L.A.. it was fun to do a show on my home, and its off the beaten path thats for sure....I think its the most "divey" show we filmed....although before Bowen Island in Charleston burned down that would have been my 1st place dive....
  22. Lots of factors go into deciding where to shoot....the willingness of the restaurant owner being #1...you would be suprised, but we are turned down sometimes on our offer to shoot....and another problem is some of the smaller more ethnic place dont know what the food network is....also, we need good "on camera" guests like the girl at Mai's and Levi Goode.... I would love to be able to walk into some dive and start shooting, but alas its not that easy....also everyone on camera has to sign a release.... Its a lot easier to write about it then to film it, as I have found out now....I used to love writing my stuff for the paper...just go in, eat then write....no lights, cameras....or lawyers! Glad you guys are enjoying the show...keep your fingers crossed that we get a second season!
  23. The Mustang rocked, except when we had to shoot in it...w me driving, a camera guy in the front passanger seat, Sean Omalley the producer in the back, along w Rick Brush the sound guy next to him.... How do you guys think the Viet went over? We tried to stick w basics such as beef and shrimp...plus I love Pho...and Mais was pretty good...you didnt get to see us drink the iced coffee that was sitting on the table....its a bummer cause w 5 places, we have to cut out stuff to make it fit.... The burger story is great....you cant tell, but it started to pour rain when we were eating....so it was a 1 take shot...I was so glad that we didnt screw up cause we couldnt have re shot it. Houston is a big city, but really didnt have a "tourist" section..in fact downtown was dead when we filmed those scenes....so it was almost hard to tell what off the beaten path was....what did you think of those city scape shots...I loved the time lapse one....what a pretty downtown! oh and the Brisket....killer...serious smoke penetration! L.A. (my hometown is next week) and its all my favorite places I have been eating at forever! I
  24. I know that Chef Jeffery Mauro (of Bradley Ogden) is now working there and he is a very innovative and creative young chef...I didnt get a chance to eat there during my Chicago trip, but it was high on my list because of him....
  25. Thanks....the Chicken Fried Lobster had everyone going "ahh" including Bob Tuschman who said that next time he is in Vegas he is making a beeline for Binions to try it...and thanks for e mailing the network....it helps, we really want a second season! By the way...Houston is tommorow and my hometown of L.A. is next week...I have to do the voice overs this afternoon..
