And of course Middletown is infamous for being the place that I was born(dad was teaching at Wesleyan).
-
Yes I can probably do it; just thought someone may have had a good one. I've had it in a few places and this restaurant definitely makes a good one. Maybe I can promote it off the chef.

There's a Chinese restaurant near me that makes a nice grand marnier shrimp that I'd like to try and duplicate. Does anyone have a good recipe for it? This restaurant has a light breading on the shrimp and the sauce is vibrant, not overly creamy and quite tasty.

Sounds like it goes together to me. Duck and squash are always nice.

Saturday a special concotion of ratatouille with chicken for my father who will not eat sausage For everyone else: Crab bisque with tiny shrimp Sausage and peppers(recipe courtesy of alanz's family) over mixed penne, farfalle and ziti(bottom of all the boxes) Pillsbury Grand biscuits Stouffers' creamed spinach souffle(no taste but nice fluffiness) Very satisfying, filling dinner. No one could eat any dessert. They all said "noo" except my father who could eat a truckful of food and keep going. Pretty good for a small Chinese guy.

Friday Dungeness Crab in Ginger and Scallion sauce- used frozen crabs, fresh is better but these crabs were good. and to supplement the crab: Honeyed Chicken- Shredded chicken with a little honey sauce glaze, onions, ginger and garlic, all piled in the center surrounded by broccoli stir fried with garlic Jasmine rice Crazy Coconut Pie (out of The Everything Thai Cookbook). Quite tasty. One of the more interesting things about the recipe was how you just mixed up the batter - eggs, milk, flour, coconut - and it just naturally separates to make a crunchy top with the coconut on top, the custard in the middle and forms its own natural crust on the bottom. Definitely a simplifier when you're cooking other things which are more intricate. Very cool. Cooking up the shells for stock...

You could do a tapas brunch. It's good, hearty and full of variety, and so can appeal to many tastes. Food 911 just did one and it actually looked pretty good. But there are so many different kinds of tapas; you could even have steak and potatoes as part of your tapas selections.

One of my favorite comfort foods cooked with rice. Ginger is a lovely thing.

Now of course the Feast of the Immaculate Conception recognizes the fact that Mary was born without original sin. So of course the obvious way to celebrate that fact is to have a big meal and commit the sin of Gluttony(See Gluttony thread).
-
Sounds to me more like a feast of immaculate consumption

What's the wait look like to get a reservation? I'm gonna call and make an attempt for a friend's birthday. We could be flexible for a lunch or dinner. Places to park? Good review Suzanne. Regards to HWOE Thanks.

Suzanne did you make it to Amma? Having some Celestial Seasonings Decaf Mint tea. Not adult but warming. Just came in from walking home from another eGulleteer's house. Really beautiful out albeit getting a trifle nippy in Jersey. We had some lovely sausage and peppers that his wife made and I brought a cranberry apple pie and chocolate walnut gelato(exactly what we needed-more cold stuff).

Really wanted to go out and catch The Last Samurai tonight but blizzard intervened. Bad snow! Bad snow! Really wonder what Tom Cruise was able to learn in order to do his scenes credibly. He apparently does some double sword work in the movie that I'd like to see. So staying in... Cooked some nice gambas al ajillo and sesame ginger scallops with toasted almond pilaf. Hope to get out and cavort tomorrow sometime... Playing with my sword and nunchuckus tonight

Exactly Elissa It is the time and thought taken away from where the mind should otherwise be(on one's spiritual and moral development) and doesn't only apply to food. Gluttony is really applicable to many modern obsessions. Lust at the same time as Gluttony=whipped cream in the right places(and a straighter shot to Hell).

Portobello mushrooms and mission figlets in a red wine sauce

For as long as they said until it was frozen about an inch away from the sides-about 1 hour and 40 minutes. The sugar about 3/4 cup to 1 1/4 cup of milk and 2/3 cup of heavy cream and 2 1/2 oz of chocolate bits and a few walnuts.

so your not using a machine? Nope no machine. I thought perhaps that might be a part of it.
