  1. Campbells did make a tomato bisque....http://www.netgrocer.com/detail.cfm?oid=23445&smallFrm=yes Not sure where or if it's stll available. And they did change the forumula on the regular tomato some years back. I don't remember the reason, but I do remember all of us noticing it wasn't as "tomatoey."

    "I don't....like...SPAM!!" http://home.triad.rr.com/spamchef/spamskit.html
  3. Itching and cheffing....I get it. In the personal chef industry, we call our job "personal cheffing." It may not be in the dictionary yet, but perhaps it will be soon.
  4. You're taking over for Martha while she does her jail thang, right? That's a "perfect" use for Peeps.
  5. At "Job Lot" type stores I'd sometimes find Campbells' chicken noodle (home style--very, very good!) and a really good mushroom variety in a glass jar. "Golden Mushroom" soup I think it was called. With big hunks of (seemingly) sauteed 'shrooms. Can't find it anymore. With a bit of sherry, and some herbs, it made a GREAT sauce. This thread made me remember it...so I just emailed them to ask if they still make it. http://www.campbellsoup.com/index.asp?cpovisq=
  6. That must have smelled awful. Why did he use milk and not water? Especially since it was a dried "crust" fire and not a grease fire. Your other situation sounded dreadful...glad it worked out and nothing was too damaged/destoyed. I think in a panic, people forget the obvious..try to choke off the air supply to the fire. Very often a pot lid could have saved a whole kitchen. Or perhaps even a whole house.
  7. Now, I could possibly get into some Rice Peepsie Squares. But only if someone else makes 'em.
  8. All this soup talk made me pick up a can of Wolfgang Puck's Chicken Noodle today. They didn't have Chicken and Rice, as someone recommended. Thought I'd give him another chance. It was awful. Chicken Flavored Perspiration, with LOTS of noodles and not much chicken. Horribly salty. Not many vegetables either. Healthy Choice Chicken Noodle, doctored with salt and pepper and perhaps some grated cheese, and picking out half the carrots (I just made it "Unhealthy Choice" ) is very good when I don't feel like cooking anything. And I like the Lipton's in the envelope because it reminds me of childhood lunches. It's a bit salty for my palate, but enjoyable once a year or so. Even if I just pick out the noodles and eat them--like I did when we were kids.
  9. Hate them. But my ex used to sit and eat a couple whole trays at a sitting....with me sitting at his side like this... And he didn't like sweets that much. Guess he saved up his sugar cravings for a couple days before Easter. It DID him lots of energy--he was 15 years my senior...so....
  10. Campbells most defintely changed their marketing. Their lower salt versions (Healthy Request is it?) etc. On the Food Network, I think I remember them saying they also gear their seasonings/soup flavors for regional taste differences.
  11. And of course..I always WHIP out a can of the offending flavor/brand... that I JUST happen to have at my elbow...in order to drive my point home! "Stop eating THIS crap, darling....now we're eating THIS (crap)!!"
  12. As a personal chef, I have heard of MANY disasters from my colleagues...accidentally setting fire to client kitchens/stoves, setting off fire/smoke alarms in the house and having a yard loaded with firefighters within seconds. ...talk about embarassing...as well as scary. So talk about the worst mess you ever got yourself into. And how you saved your kitchen...or didn't! I recommend the portable fire extinguisher, BTW..for us PC's and a regular one in every home kitchen. No matter how annoying that smoke alarm is when it goes off while you're broiling lamb chops--and you rip out the batteries!...remember to re-instate it when you're finished. I did a search for this topic and didn't see anything..so forgive if this is being discussed already.
  13. Campbells made (makes?) a won ton soup?? Never saw it in all my (nearly 44 years on the planet! Soba...when you say: do you mean you couldn't obtain it, but knew about it. Or that you didn't "get" the concept of their trying to make won ton when one can get it so cheaply and easily practically anywhere from take-out? And..if you did have it...how was it seasoned??? Any Asian flavor at all? Mushy noodles? Nasty filling? Please dish!
  14. I also look at strange food cravings as a sign the body needs something from the (craved) food. A mineral. A vitamin. An enzyme. But...corn dogs are basically Three Mile Island and a Coronary On A Stick... so I am unsure what the system would get outta eating one! I crave Cheese Doodles sometimes. Covered in their powdery, muppet-orange, Cheezy-dyed glory. That makes no sense to me...but once in a while I gotta have 'em.
  15. Speaking of Puck's soups, I tried the Chicken Parmesan one about a year or so ago, and it tasted like diluted chickeny flavored library paste with Kraft Immitation Parmesan "Cheese" tossed in. Just a travesty. I remember not expecting such a thick cream based soup (which I dislike). I picked it up hurredly, I guess. Maybe he improved his soups, but I have heard his other packaged frozen foods and especially his frozen pizzas are embarassingly horrible.
  16. I couldn't take all that salt. But I've heard that does come out well. I think Campbells Chicken Noodle is just vile stuff, but I love the Tomato, made with skimmed milk. I don't think the stock/liquid portions of Progresso have much taste. They kinda taste like canned perspiration with some meat and veg tossed in. I guess I am used to my own soups, which are very richly seasoned. But Progresso is more generous than Campbells with the added ingredients. I picture an assembly line at Campbells. with little elderly ladies in hair nets with tweezers and bowls of celery and carrots in front of them...dropping a couple pieces (perfectly square and uniform in size) in each tin as it glides past them.
  17. I will never be pals with you. I will never attempt to eat oatmeal again. In any way, shape of form. The stuff was made by satan, tastes like library paste, and makes me gag. I don't care WHO says it's good for me...oatmeal can just fek off!
  18. I think you need to check out the food and sex thread.
  19. I guess permanent are preferable over temporary. Nothing like "MOM" rubbing off on your salad.
  20. How's that 2Buck? Glad your dinner came out well, too.
  21. delete
  22. Joan Rivers is said to eat 80-90 Winter Tomatoes per day. Takes years off her!
  23. It's Sahara Desert Dry. Too dry. And the Bumble Bee Salmon I tried in same packaging was so oddly bitter tasting it was inedible.
  24. You have to eat a peck of wax before you die. I just made that up. But it's comforting, no?
  25. I loves me my crockpot! It's a Rival. I also love this site...where you can get opinions on just about anything. I pulled up crockpots for y'all: http://www.epinions.com/Crock_Pots_and_Slo...h_vertical_~all
