In response to those who PM'd me, I'm afraid I have to push off until after the holidays for dinner. If interested, I'll look to put something together for after the holiday for an early dinner.

Been here many times for lunch at the bar. I Knew the old GM from coming in my place for years. I noticed he wasn't there once summer began. Place is very good and the pastry chef outstanding. Bar staff is up and down depending on their moods. Lunch menu is a little limited hence we've begun to distance our stops. I even asked one time if we could order off the dinner menu and were told no. Overall, I'd certainly recommend it.
  3. David, it's really not all that different than handing your customers. Be honest, correct mistakes, be attentive, have a great gift of bullshit and of course the ability to defend your actions. After all, most everyone thinks it's so easy to be in the restaurant business. Now go have that drink and settle down my friend. Edited: Decent food helps otherwise you'll be defending yourself from here to oblivion.
  4. Is Little Ferry in Bergen Co?
  5. Eric, by the way. Good luck with the restaurant. I'll be in.

Tommy, I'm in. Let's do a Thursday, early dinner, or if they're open for lunch which no one seems to know. Oh shit, I might be in trouble with ISO police. We'll do this from here on in with PM...................................................................anyone wanna go?
  7. Rebecca, well put. Although not as well-winded as you, I certainly enjoyed your post. By the way, if you're looking for employment, I'm always looking to hire people with your thinking. PM me if interested. You can ask around here, they all know me. ( A shame they're no screaming, crazy smiley.
  8. ooooo. one of my favorite CA chards. i 'member dat one from the wine dinner at The American Grill. excellent stuff! ← Tommy, it's " An American Grill" Should be a good Chard, you drank enough. I'll go back in the wordwork now. Just can't help myself.
  9. and you all think I have a big mouth for a restaurant owner? Kim's got me beat by a long shot. Nothing like allienating EVERYONE.
  10. Had a quick bite at the bar this afternoon. Couple of apps, couple of cocktails. Brasciole & Mussels were very good. Have to say, the lady bartender is incredibly pleasant every time I've been there. I've got training tomorrow, maybe I'll come back again.
  11. I'll be there Monday. I've put a Micros computer system in the rest and have traing Mon & Tues in Jersey City, so I'm taking my manager there around 7pm.
  12. Hey Evie, give me some props on the poached pear salad. You were at The Grill a week after and if there were problems with when Nizza's friend was there at the very least, they were corrected quickly. Much love, Lou P.S. I was working in the kitchen that day.
  13. My lady and I are looking forward to going to a place neither one of us has been. Henceforth, what better than Newport during the jazz festival? We're looking for suggestions, doesn't have to be limited to dining. While we're not big jazez people, and probably won't make the festival,( this will give us more time with the locals) we want to know where to watch a ballgame, get a good glass of wine, etc. Thanks for the help.
  14. Just had a BLT @ French Roast on B'way & 89th. Lots of bacon and tomato was ripe. Good deal for $7.
  15. Wow!!! That shook me as this is a state that I have dis-liked since I've moved here. I'm a Bronx boy looking to return home soon. I enjoy the country side as well as everyone but that's disappated since the early 80's in Jersey. Everything is a strip mall with a chain restaurant. Oh well. This may sound like a rant but it's not my intention. NJ has just changed since I've been a citizen of the state.
  16. He won't be going out of his way to come to the Grill Not needing Mapquest, 95% of these hotels are on Rt 10, 4 miles from my place, he could actually get there and relax a few minutes before ordering a little before 10 pm.
  17. If your friend is staying in Parsippany, my place, An American Grill is open until 10:00. The bar a little later. We would be more than happy to serve him upon his arrival. As you might be able to tell by the time stamp I just got home from work.

  19. Thanks. Looking forward to it.
  20. Called to make a reservation for tomorrow but they only take them for 5 or more. We're looking to dine early, 6:30 or 7 pm. Think we'll have a long wait on a holiday weekend?
  21. Hey, I'm 1/2 Italian and the rest of me is Irish & American Indian. Just wanted a little clarification and I don't want to start a new topic and be moved elsewhere but did you ever notice mostly Italians are portrayed with their accents on commericals. If I have to listen to Aldo & Carlo from the Macaroni Grill ( We 1/2 Italians don't say Macaroni either) with their silly commericals, I'm gonna hurl. Can you imagine for example, African-Americans with a southern accent talking about ribs, or a Jewish-American slepping bagels with a strong Bronx accent on the radio? Seems a little dumb. Could it be my distaste for chains? Anyway, I digress. I'm still curious what a real deal Italian is?
  22. What is a real deal Italian?
  23. Shit, this might have been the worst Saturday, besides snowstorms, that I ever had in 11 years. Is there anyone still in North Jersey?
