  1. YES!!! Lou. It would be great if you could have D'artagnan price out 14 Rabbits for me. Also, I'm sorry I missed you that evening, so I'd like to meet with you and discuss a future Les Marmitons event or at least give you an idea of what it's all about. Let me know when I should call you at the restaurant or PM me with info on how to contact you. Perhaps I'll come to the restaurant for lunch one day next week. ← I'll price them out for you Monday and let you know. I will order them for you if the price is right the follwing Monday for Tuesday's delivery. I'd love to check out a Les Marmiton's event, so let me know what's good for you.
  2. D'Artagan has them and are cheaper. If you need, I could get them for you through the restaurant. I have to place a order with them Monday anyway so I could inquire on the price for you. We'd be able to meet also as I missed you when you ate at The Grill. Lou

    FASCINO

Thanks Jan, I booked it on opentable already but I wanted to talk to someone to see if a tasting menu could be done. We'll see if the almighty power of egullet will help me. Lou

    FASCINO

Just tried calling to make a reservation for March 7, a Monday and all I get is a recording. Anyone know how to bypass this? Should I book on opentable? I was hoping to speak to a live person cause I want to request a tasting menu.
  5. Hey, not to merge topics but the A&P Fresh Foods in Denville, their meat section is fantastic. The Seafood looks fresh also, though I haven't used it yet. You vcan have steaks cut to size, they usually have Brasiole, both pork and beef, though I find they're not stuffed enough. A welcome addition to Morris County in addition to Appletree's butcher and their Italian deli product's it looks like there's a few places to shop at within 20 minutes.
  6. I intend to hit here soon as my kids live in Vernon. I'll report back but it won't be for at least 3 weeks. Cody Kendall was very impressed, gave it 4 stars. We'll see as I haven't really agreed with her recently on a few places. Then again, she reviewed me after I had been open only 4 weeks and only gave me 2 1/2 stars. That was 10 years ago. I still don't agree with her about that.
  7. Solo tonight so I made a vat of beef stew with Guinness, potatos & carrlots. Plenty for manyana. The boys are plowing through the snow tomorrow as I'll be the only bloke with hot food, Big TV & booze for football. Leg of Lamb, roasted taters, grilled asparagus. Being it's Sunday, the Guinea in me might have to make homemade pasta just for the hell of it.
  8. Having lunch here today. Anyone been here recently?
  9. Come on now people. Most of you all get on the same banter about how we in the business use these occasions to (1) Rip you off. (2) Find every way to take advantage of our customers on holidays and (3) Provide inadequate meals while under pressure. I've got more pet peeves that I've heard but I'll keep it short. Let's take a look at this year, V-Day falls on a Monday. What restaurant doesn't look forward to filling the house 2 times. You bring in the weekend staff and they're walking out at midnight with $250 plus. Not a bad Monday for the staff. This holiday is for couples. For a restaurant this isn't Saturday, we don't have to hold up dueces to send out that party of 16. Dueces flow. My guys in the back get to sneak out for a beer and a smoke behind the restaurant. It's a easy night and we even glam it up, do couple dishes, it's a fun night. ( Long as you have someone to go home to ) For a final thought, those of you that post here are educated about which places to go. You all know which are the serious places Most of you can cook and might decide to stay home and have a romantic evening, that's great, wish I could but I'll be working and trying to provide my customers with a great dining experience. Hopefully after they'll all getta little something something.
  10. Brian, Thanks for the review. You made up my mind and I'm on the way for lunch. Lou
  11. Think I'm going to have lunch here at the bar tomorrow. Anyone been lately? It's between here and BLT. Can't make up my mind.
  12. I still don't even know how to get to Lambertville yet.
  13. Not in any particular order Nicholas. The bar menu at Ryland Bernards Inn Seranade ( I promise an open mind) The Jefferson I've got a few NYC ones also. I'll add later if interested.
  14. Yeah....and I thought David liked me. I even got quoted in his wine by the glass article. I figured it was give it back call after we got a Good in his column though the review read like a very good. Maybe I'm delusional. He giveth then taken away. Shit happens. Happy New Year all.
  15. ............and be sure to give us a report. Curlz and I are angling for Rosie's job.
  16. It's not snowing.
  17. O.K. Now, I've found myself off tonight and wondering where to go eat. Just figured I'd bring this one back up.
  18. Sorry love, you're not the only BYOB holdout in the Jersey crowd. By the way, you threw a wonderful sushi lunch in Caldwell. We missed you, always like picking your brain. Also, with BYOB's come inexperienced staff. Most of you don't tip on what booze you bring in. To be honest, I tipped out the staff at the sushi lunch on the side because they handled our liquor. I worked BYOB"s as a chef and heard the bitching of a server after they opened 18 bottles of wine for a part of 10 and got 15% on the nose. I'd never open a BYOB beacuse all you get are step-ups from pizza joints and chains. The reason BYOB"S have medicore service is because they get tipped on what you eat and not for handling the wine. Tips suck!! Wake up people. Aahhhh, don't get me started. Lou
  19. O.K. just a few things about the food. All the rolls were great, I especially liked the Montclair roll, the roll with the jelopeno was good, I could have used a little more spice. The white tuna roll with the crunchy topico was probably my favorite. I do have to say I was disappointed with the quality of the tuna sushi and the yellowtail sashimi. They didn't cut the fish properly at the right angles to ensure tenderness. Oh well, you all know I have to bitch about something. Company as usual was great as well as interesting. The story of Chef David's ancestors water-sking the Mayflower was funny and of course Rosie, in addition to eating a good amount of sushi enjoyed another episode of foot in mouth explaining her aversion to staring at tall men's crotches. Evie, thanks for putting everything together. If I remember another thing else of interest I'll post. Best, Lou
  20. I know, I met him at The Grill a couple of weeks ago. Just having a little fun at your expense.
  21. What kind of photos are you showing from down under? You can br so fresh sometimes. Be careful love.....it is lunch after all. I'm trying to be there but I might have to pick Sue up in the city. Might be a quick lunch for me but I'm trying.
  22. While on the topic of pastrami, my lovely Sue is throwing me a 40th birthday party catered by Katz'. What a great idea!! Sorry, I'm so excited I just had to share.
  23. I can take a train here. I'm up for a lunch or dinner here. I think we should plan a dinner here on the 1st significant snow and all try to meet here. It'll be difficult for those living somewhat close-by using a car or those that'll take the train. Great plan for those that want to have some fun on a snowy day.

    Butter

We dined here as a group of 9 last winter. Let's just say as a group of 9 we called a hour before and got reservations. I didn't book it and was weary to dine here. It wasn't bad, it wasn't great. Would I dine here again? Maybe after 11pm after my options are limited. I will tell you though there were some beautiful people there. It turns to a model hangout late.
  25. O.K., than it's the place next to The Community Theater is Morristown on the 2nd. Someone ( Curlz ) should be in charge. Shall we say 12:30? Perhaps we should find out if the offer omakase?
