Called this morning based on the fact that we were on the waiting list for date last week but were obviously not called based upon the fire. Called at 10:20 am, they picked up in 6 minutes and I booked for 7/8 @10pm. Works for me. I'll have lunch somewhere, light. Take a nap and head over. booked a table for 4, have no idea who to ask to join us. That'll be the fun over the next few weeks.

C.C.C. Chef's Culinary Club. Somewhere in the East 20's. It was the 80's and I was a line cook in Jersey and used to head in here twice a month. 1st open kitchen I had ever seen. It was open til 4 and we'd drive in with a good buzz and eat all night long then hit the after hour clubs. All the chef's in the city would come here looking to get drunk and we sure did a good job.

A little self-promoting here on my part ( Yeah, I know something different ) An American Grill will run a 3 course prix-fixe menu for $30.04, 5/24-5/27 and 5/31 -6/03. The menu is listed or will be shortly on Table Hopping with Rosie. If anyone has any question about it e-mail me at amgrill64@msn.com. Lou

A good sense of humor, a kind smile and a Hugo Boss suit go a long way my friend. Are you jealous? Do I not fawn over you enough? I let you close the bar with us last week.

Thanks Curlz, I'm glad everything was good. I was off as my grandmother passed away and I was at the wake today. Funeral tomorrow. A tough day allaround. It was nice to see everything runs well in my absence. I'm sorry I missed you tonight. Let me know next time you're coming and I'll bring the 83' yearbook. Tommy, thanks for the good word. It is a good fact to bring up. Sometimes people think that because I know someone a egullet member I fawn over them. Maybe so . But I still have to cook with whatever product I have and execute. I'm shot now. Time to go to sleep. Thank God, I have a vacation to look forward to. Leave for Naples Fla Thurs. Sleep on the plane and get the clubs out. See ya all next week .

Can't help you with Italian places as we cook at the house when on vacation but I agree with Katie on Uncle Will's for breakfast. Chicken & The Egg for breakfast and wings is good, Engleside Inn has by far the best sushi.

Thanks, I caught them on the way out. i was in the kitchen Sat. Had 2 guys out and was forced into yet another Sat behind the line. I just might stay back there. John's party will be fine Sat. Hope you have a great time.

Rosie my dear, If I wanted to to "broil steaks" I would have called the place An American Broiler. I have a legit grill in the back. A broiler doesn't cook a steak the way I like. Otherwise I'm glad you all enjoyed everything. Let's just say after the filming of the commercial, putting a proper dinner together for you all, I got a little drunk at the bar and left my car at The Grill and got a ride home. I'll expound on a few things tommorow when I have a few hours to screw off.

Excellent choice. That should be some sight. Congratulations on your anniversary!

bill, those are nice words, but even *i* don't like my posts from the last 6 months. you are very generous indeed. Do you have a evil twin? How the f**k are you home already. I just hooked my laptop up. I need to have a cocktail.

Don't worry, you'll get your BMW out of the parking lot. It's not snowing. See ya all tonight. If anyone has any questions, call me at The Grill. 973-442-9311

Once you bget on Rt 10 from Rt 287 it's 7 1/2 miles. You know you're close when on your right, it'll be the 2nd large mall you see, containing a Staple, Blockbuster, K-Mart & Pathmart, The Grill will be half way up the hill past about a 1/4 mile on the right.

$54.00 a dozen on my list today. They come in tommorow, I might serve them at the Jersey egullet dinner if they're really good. Based on the past, they'll be small but tasty. Bad thing is when they're small, you can't saute them, they shrivel. Deep-frying doesn't shrink them as much. If they look too small you have to serve 3 and how much you are you going to charge in Jersey, $36....yeah right.

Rosie, what do we have for a final count?

Had trouble getting the bone in Rib-Eye so I'm serving a shell steak on the bone. We'll take a temp then slice them and serve them individually. Lou

Have you run this by my agent??? Your agent? I'm worried about what eye candy you might bring. It could look like one of those 800 commercials that were shot in the Hoboken terminals with the "soap opera actresses" you know.

Just dress as you would to go out to eat anywhere.

In addition to the dinner that evening, we will be filming a commercial for cable that evening so if anyone is camera shy let me know and we'll make sure that we don't film you. Lou

Yeah a few puffs huh. Last time i smoked a good hand rolled Key West cigar was in fact, yes, Key West. At Alice's LaTiDa's I enjoyed, while Sue was at the bar downstairs, a lovely conversation on the porch 4 stories above the bar with a lesbian over politics, a true hand rolled cigar Key West style. I was shocked to see she was more of a conservative than myself. A HUGE Bush supporter. No pun intended. She spent half her time in Key West and half in Texas, I believe Denton TX, only because I've won a lot of money the last 3 years betting North Texas University which I believe is in Denton.

By the way, gotta close the egullet dinner by this Friday midnight so I can order. Slight change to the Maya Prawns, gonna wrap them with Serrano ham. Ken R. I know you don't want prawns, once again let me know what you'd like substituted and David, I know you're not a fan of pork so if you want I'll make a liitle risotto for you with the prawns. If not I'll do something else for you. I'll be in the kitchen preparing and will be sitting with you all. Now is the time to confirm and let me know if there are any othet dietary restrictions. Good mushrooms are difficult to procur and I am heading to NYC tomorrow to pick up something that I won't to served with the short rib ravioli. Bone-In Rib-Eye Steaks will be served with the main course as of now. Lou

No soft shell crabs yet on my fish lists. Normally I get a 2 week period in late April when they come up and then quiet for 3 weeks untill the latter part of May. Those 2 weeks in April are probably the best ones I get through the year except mid-summer. When they're out ,you'll know, they'll be on everybody's specials.
