Sorry dude, I missed your question. The reisling was Domaine Zind Humbrecht '97 ( Clos Hauserer) This wine was well rated when I bought it 5 years ago and only have two bottles left. It was a perfect accompinment to the Big-Eye tuna.
  3. To be honest, after a little thinking if it's possible, I would like to take my situation with Zagat's off the board. I think at this point that if I were to be included it would have happened by now. I have the rep. Neverless, this subject is starting to stick to my craw. Who knows why things happen but as of now I'd like to put my efforts into something in my control, not something out of my hands. I thank those that worked on my behalf and Casa Comida's. I'm done on this topic

Yeah, I know, I had to drive. Smooth. See ya Monday,( be careful I'm only working lunch, Rock, whatcha doing Monday?) Tuesday, I'm there all day. Be cool man. Lou
  5. Yeah, they're a little high end price wise but I'm sure the rent/mortgage ain't cheap. At least they keep up the quality end. $10.95 is a little high for a Merlot but they offered other red wines for less. I had the burger. it was good. I try to keep my wine by the glass between $5-$8. only because I don't find people like to spend more than that. If they're going over $8 a glass they'll prefer a higher quality wine. As a the person who chooses wines I think it's possible to serve good wine by the glass if people are adventurous for $8 and under. This isn't a criticism of Huntley tavern.
  6. Since you are officially a member now, I guess you're a egullet crew. Can't wait for your 1st review. Then again you didn't let me down when you were on my cooking show.
  7. Dude, you're smooth, if your chick can't make it you can crash here. Missed you tonight, good booze, talk to you. Lou

OK, what drunk is 1st? Where's Wild Irish Rosie? great night, food great, wines spectacular, company excellent. I can't catch up on all the wines that were at the table but a summary of food should be brought up and I'll let everyone comment after. A thanks to The Fascino family for actually giving us the table for the night as they certainly could have turned it over and made some REAL money, but afforded us the privilage of staying for the evening, even though I begged Anthony to throw us out. Excuse me as I'm a little buzzed and I wasn't supposed to keep notes, we brought two professionals but I;ll provide a little summary. A Amuse that was a garden vegatable puree served in a small martini glass was a nice way to wake the taste buds. 2nd course was spilt amongst us, Big Eye tuna( Very good because Ryan & Anthony use the same purveyors I do) with I believe peppered watercress and a Shrimp cake were good, just a little too breaded for me. though the man with the most posts loved them. 3rd course and my favorite were the homemade rabbit ravioli with Morel mushrooms, they were perfect. Wonderful!! 4th A Bronzini over a risotto cake with cauliflower puree and what I believe was basil or arugola reduced oil. Fish was cooked perfectly. Delightful. Somebody get me a critic's job, quick. Espressos and coffee on request, someone will have to talk about dessert as I had to field calls from family and business and everyone ate my effin dessert. I only had the shortcake with sorbet. A good start to serious egullet NJ dinners. Pleasure to meet those I haven't before. Yo! Zeman, you da man. D.B. always a good time dude. See ya in the parking lot. I just hope on 4/21, I up to the task of making such a wonderful dinner. I'm already thinking of my menu as we speak. Lou Eff Zagat's!!!

Tommy wife and My girl Sue can't make it. I called Fascino's and talked to Ryan to drop the number to 10. If anyone can't make it PLEASE call Fascino's and let them know. It's a small place and they would appriciate the call as to make room for other customers, See ya in a hour. Lou
  10. Given the whipping that Ms. Clurfield has recieved on these forums I doubt she would be amenable to posting here. I don't believe she's taken a whipping here at all. There was never anything derogatory about her at all. Her silence speaks words, that's all.
  11. Yeah, a flight, that's right, after all it was shrimp 1st, meat 2nd. Can't have the same wine.
  12. Whasen, you da man. Wine week, 4 weeks away.
  13. Thanks Jan, glad you enjoyed everything. We'll get you at a lunch or dinner with these egullet wacko's soon enough. Lou
  14. Now this is funny as I had lunch at the bar on Monday. I had a Thai chili shrimp dish with soba noodles and papaya. good , needed a little more chili. Had a burger with maytag blue, grilled red onion mid-rare with truffled shoestrings. You know, always forget about this place, yet am never disapointed. Good service and well-priced although a little high for lunch. With 3 glasses of wine and a cappuchino bill was $63 for myself. I like this place, will be great to sit outside if the effin winter ever ends.

Anthony, what time may I call you to go over the menu. I'd like to do it around 1:30pm if that's good for you. I was busy with a party of 26 from Lexus tonight and didn't get to it. Lou

That'd be great for me. Bring it on. We have limited access and Sue's tired of going to Fairway and Citarella for me.
  17. I have to say without diseecting everyone's posts the thing I found most curious is the fact that no one has addressed the fact that you CAN bring your own wine to restaurrants with licenses. I think most would allow this with a little notice when you make your rreservation. Let me make it know then and when I join opentable.com that I will have free corkage nights. Otherwise I do charge a $15 dollar corkage fee, cheap if you think about it and you have a option of having a martini before dinner or a cordial after dinner. The best of both worlds. When I off on Thursday I'll look better at all the posts, make a few comments and start a new topic with all new questions. Glad you all liked this and it certainly helped me get a little insight. Lou

In Kenvil on Rt 46 West try Captain Fresh. It's a Asian market with a large seafood Dept. Everything fdfrom Dungeness crabs, whole lobsters and a large amounts of filleted fish. Also believe it or not the seafood at the A&P in Randolph is also good.

  21. for real? i just put in fake info except for the email address. i assume that works. i mean, they're not going to *call* me to verify, are they? Yeah, but what happens if you win the grand prize........dinner for two at North Jersey's best restaurant..............Highlawn Pavillion!!!
  22. Just wanted to keep this one up. Means a lot business-wise in August for a lot of restaurants when it comes out. If I can't get in Zagat's at least this give me a little boost in late summer. Strange thing though, I've always noticed the debate over NJ Monthly's poll but whether we got voted based on advertising and I don't believe that's the case since I run a ad only two to four times a year or on merit I think it's just the way the people vote. I've won Best New American in North Jersey for 4 years straight but neither Valerie or Anthony has reviewed The Grill.
  23. Sorry we missed you this evening. I found out that you wouldn't be joining us when I stopped in with my kids in the afternoon. Hope I see you soon. Welcome back to the forum. Lou
  24. I've sent emails and the only response I get is to send my press kit which I've done twice without any answers.
  25. Katie, being I'm a Bronx boy lost in the suburbs of Jersey perhaps a move to The City of Brotherly Love wouldn't be a bad idea.
