Another suggestion not far from Morristown is The Bernards Inn or The Petit Chateau.

Recently ate at Hunan Cottage. Pork dumplings, vegetable dumplings, spare ribs, chow fun, pork shoulder with vegetables, salt and pepper shrimp and Chinese broccoli. Love this place.

It is no surprise that Hamilton's Grill Room, 8 Coryell Street, Lambertville has been open 15 years as Chef/owner Jim Hamilton serves dazzling food in a delightful setting with professional helpful waiters. We couldn't have asked for a better dining experience than the one we had there recently. The problem we had is that we wanted to order everything on the menu! We started off with a Greek salad; grilled romaine with parmesan cheese and the best crab cakes with a red pepper coulis that I have ever had. "I want to order this next time" is what we all said after tasting each entrée. We devoured a grilled rib eye steak with garlic chive butter; softshell crabs with a spicy remoulade; sea scallops with their roe and a perfectly cooked rack of lamb. We shared a sour cherry crumble for dessert which you must order if it is on the menu. The restaurant is open Monday through Saturday from 6 to 10 PM; Sunday from 5 to 9 PM; BYO. Reserve early for a Saturday night. If it is warm enough try to get a table outside. For reservations call 609 397-4343.

I like Girasole and have always had excellent meals there. Thanks for info on Sweet Basil. The problem is that a chef never stays there long enough. Your wife may have had a virus.

"Haven't tried Aquila yet, but Grappa at the Somerset Hills Hotel received three and a half stars in today's Ledger. Rosie was there a few months ago and liked it, I believe." Never been to Grappa. I was at Christine's when a different chef was there.

Bodyguard for who? You or the cows?

Depends on how many credit cards you have. The restaurant is expensive. The Kabul Kafe is lovely but given a choice I would have dinner there. Leave time to have a cocktail on the terrace. Be sure to give us a report.

More info here http://forums.egullet.org/index.php?act=ST...487&hl=nicholas Nicholas is an outstanding restaurant. You don't have to worry about a vegetarian not having the same quality of food that you have. Just be sure to tell them when you make a reservation that you will need a vegetarian dinner.

Thanks for the offer. How sweet. Are you sure the cows won't mind? How many people would be willing to drive to the farm?

I wore my highest heels and still looked like I was standing in a hole. I did ask for a stool and they all ignored me. Well--the camera man did give me a funny look when I told Chef Lou to get on his knees so I wouldn't look so short!

Not necessarily new but exciting--- The Dining Room at Anthony David's--BYO Amanda's Augustino's All have been discussed on the NJ board. Do a search for more info.

JFK. UGH!!!! I thought you were picking him up in Newark. Between the planes always landing late and the traffic it may be hard for you to plan on an exact time. Make your plans and I'll try to join you. May have to switch some dates.

Chef Lou Reda from An American Grill, 246 Route 10 West, Randolph invited me to join him on his TV show "Class In Cooking." It will air on Friday nights, 7 PM on Channel 21, Morris County Cable Vision starting (Lou thinks) June 27, skipping July 4th and then on the following three Friday nights. I had so much fun watching Chef Lou cook and asking him questions. Of course I was able to have all of the scrumptious food after we taped the show which was a treat. Chef Lou started with making homemade pasta (what could be better?) and demonstrated how to use a machine from Italy that rolls the dough out thin and then cuts it into different shapes. He made tagliatelle and spaghettini. Then Chef Mario made the sauces. Yummm!! The sauce for the tagliatelle contained scallops, arugula, yellow beefsteak tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, garlic, red onion and shaved parmesean with a white wine sauce. The next sauce consisted of carrots, scallions, pine nuts, portobello, baby shiitake, and porcini mushrooms. Chef Lou finished this dish off with shaved Italian black truffle. Both pastas were fabulous. And of course you need wine to go with these dishes. Chef Lou paired them with a Chateau Ste. Michelle, Dr. Loosen Eroica Riesling and Ferrari-Carano 2002 Fume Blanc from Sonoma. An American Grill is open for lunch Monday through Friday 11:30 to 4 PM; Dinner Monday through Friday 4 to 10 PM; Saturday 4 to 10:30 PM; and Sunday 1 to 9 PM. Call 973-442-9311 for reservations.
