  9. Dining Room at Anthony David's and Amanda's
  10. Anything from Australia or New Zealand is fine with me.
  11. Missed everyone also. In addition to going thru eGullet withdrawal we only had one Chinese meal--dim sum in Sydney so we can't wait to see everyone and break chow mein noodles together. Tommy--I'll bring your favorite chardonnay.
  12. So is this dinner on Sun June 8 at 6 PM? I'm still on yesterday's time? Rosie
  13. Hello from Christ Church New Zealand. ONly have a few minutes on the computer so let me know where and when. Will be home next week. Rosie
  14. The restaurant was full on a Sunday with large parties. However, there were only two tables of non-Asians. This is usual for Hunan Cottage though.
  15. Freeport/Portland area.
  16. Hunan Cottage, 14 Rt 46 E, Fairfield was soooooooooooo good tonight. We started with cod fish wrapped with bean curd skin, and scallion pancakes. Then had spicy and I mean SPICY diced chicken with jalapeno peppers; vegetable chow fun and sauteed snow pea leaves with extra garlic. Bill was $23 a couple---yes a couple. BYO.
  17. Chef David plans on opening a restaurant in Maine. Yes, we are planning a field trip.
  18. Chef/owner David Joseph of Blue Sky Cafe has run a successful restaurant/catering business for 13 years. He has sold Blue Sky and will be closing after Father's Day. Blue Sky will be an upscale Chinese (family oriented) restaurant called Sesame. Wishing Chef David and his family the best.
  19. http://www.epernaynj.com/ Is that the Tommy Trot you are doing?
  20. So sorry. Didn't see you . It would have been fun to run into another eGulleter! We were at the opposite end of the restaurant. BTW--the people next to us had the rabbit and said it was fabulous.
  21. Mother's Day info is on Table Hopping With Rosie this week. http://www.njmonthly.com/issues/May03/rosi.../rosiemain.html In the Verona area you can go to Trattoria Fresco, R's place or Mangia Questa. Haven't been to Luce's in a long time. In Montclair I would recommend Corso 98.
  22. Thanks for update. Finks seems to be the BBQ restaurant of choice of many eGulleters!
  23. Where were you sitting? We were near the window. However, we were eating and drinking so much we only noticed the people on either side of us.
  24. Had another memorable dinner at Epernay, 6 Park St, Montclair. Started with fresh sardines with baby arugula and roasted pepper salad, escargot with Pernod butter, mussels in a white wine, garlic and parsley sauce and French fries with a garlic dipping sauce. Entrees were: duck confit on cranberry beans and blood sausage ragout; crispy skin salmon with lentil salad and shallot vinaigrette; filet of sole with saffron beans and baby spinach with a tomato broth; and trout with braised artichokes and potatoes with a lemon-caper vinaigrette. We were only able to manage one dessert but the kitchen sent out four. Yes, we managed to finish creme brulee, chocolate mousse, lemon tart, and profiteroles. BYO. Phone: 973-783-0447. If you haven't dined here be sure to put Epernay on your "must try" list. Been here many times and have never been disappointed. We bring our own glasses but last night we saw a couple who not only brought their own martini glasses but all the makings including the shaker for an apple martini.
  25. Rail Paul--Be sure to give us a report.
