  1. I love this recipe, easy to use and I will double it, yes I had a change something around, like the amount of yeast, if I added 2 Swedish dry yeast satchels , that would 100 gram of fresh and that would make for a very very yeasty dough. But on the whole, if I get to do this alone, no kid screaming her head of because she is tired and doesnt want to sleep, I will get lovely proper bagels.
  2. Thanks
  3. Ann T, do you have a good bagel recipe?
  4. I'm Swedish, I dont celebrate this but I do have a Christmas recipe that could work wonders. Kale salad, it is Kale, raisins, oranges, silver onion and almonds, it easy to make, gives fresh note to heavy dinner and back when I could eat it, I loved it. I could dig up the recipe when the kid is awake, she is snoring in the room with the cookbooks.
  5. I second Elfa shelving! If you can get that you are in luck. My whole storage life has been based on that, anything from small string basket, bookshelf, linnet closet, spicewracks.
  6. What does oden mean? The only Oden I know is a Norse God of wisdom . So please enlighten me!
  7. Blackberry jellies or fruit pate or what every you call these squares of yummy wobbly fruit juice and dipped in dark chocolate, that is something I try to get hold of every autumn. Blackberry jam and blackberry marmalade are two favourites here but also blackberry cake.

    Clear liquids diet

Well I am on clear liquid form tomorrow, see what the second doctor says and then broth, rice and chicken for another week... Not what I had hoped for, but well that is life.
  9. http://www.cookingandme.com/2007/10/gobi-peas-masala.html This was the recipe I used and it was lovely.
  10. Gloria, IKEAs lutfisk should be served with boiled spuds and a bechamel sauce season allspice ( my father will disagree and say white pepper but then again my great grand mother said black pepper).
  11. I have a gingerbread house recipe, the dough isnt as yummy as normal ones but it holds it shape and it is sturdy and it smells fantastic. For eating I use another recipe and when I find both cookbooks I will post the recipe, I put them away from my daughter and now I cant find them.
  12. Curry, I am making curry with it on saturday
  13. Lufisk properly prepared at Christmas doesn't stink at all, just doesn't taste nice. IKEA lutfisk doesn't smell that much. BUT a friend to my father who is American but worked here in Sweden that the lufisk is different between the states and here.
  14. Is oven pancake oki? It is Swedish pancake batter baked in the oven with bacon. Yummy served with grated carrots and lingon jam.
  15. Naftal:; I have gone of chocolate and chilli combination, I am lactose intolerant so I can only eat dark and I cant have citrus fruit, so for about 2 years if I didn't track to the speciality shops I could only get plain, mint or chilli which made me tired of it and it even at speciality stores it was hard to find dark chocolate with nuts. So no I am not a fan of chilli and chocolate. And I love Mexican chocolate , so long it doesn't have chili.
  16. Oh no, I cant stand the smell of Fiskbullar in lobster sauce. My mum reminded me, there is a stinky cheese here Sweden , really hard to get hold of, vålåloffen I think it is, stinky and yummy.
  17. Glorified Rice. That is another stinky food, people say Kalles stink, but I cant smell it. Fiskbullar you can keep for your self, that in my world reeks .
  18. My sour dough had gotten black flies, I dont know the name of them but they big fat fly that appear just before the cold, so no rye bread.
  19. Hehum, I need a rose, a cornflower, a dandelion, a liverwort blossom, a red carnation , a wood anemone and four leafed clover. Stir into a big pot , add a blue M and wait a bit, if you want to you can sprinkle a touch cloud berry blossom , a hammer , a sickle, a cog, a yellow flower, a sunflower and a little bit of different brightly coloured letters and a nuclear power plant and you have the soup called Swedish politics. Oh for the added arrr flavour, a pirate flag... I nearly forgot that party..
  20. Check at 27 min in and you see how people truly eat surströmming! I know Sweden is mostly forgotten, I know, but it is where I call home.
  21. I normaly rather posh with my chocolate but I found Karl Fazer Winter Edition, it is dark chocolate, apples, hazelnuts and crisp and I have fallen in love with it

Oh if clear apple juice is oki then clear wine grape juice should be oki, we have a white here, no alcohol that is so yummy.
  23. That is NOT how you eat surströmming!!! And yes that brand of suströmming is nasty, I don't like it , nor do you open it like that you open it under water or it stinks. I dont eat surströmming, I have tasted it and the brand my father prefer stinks as much as some French cheeses and doesnt taste that bad. Also they are also missing thin bread, sour cream, chives and a certain type of potatoes. Fermented shark is how ever beyond me eating, the smell made it impossible for me.

    Clear liquids diet

Are you allowed chai tea? Or chai apple cider? When I was on liquid diet I was allowed these and they helped the boredom of chicken consomme , pork broth, beef consomme and vegetable consomme.
  25. Kim: Do you want the recipe?
