sorry, but not everyone has the time. Or the desire to unload both kids from their carseats and into the stroller, then back again once lunch is purchased, then steer said stroller while balancing a bag or two and drinks. When I'm out running errands it's nice to be able to get a sandwich without leaving the car, especially when it's raining.

Congratulations! I'm looking forward to reading your blog. Is this your first baby? -
Scott has volunteered to coordinate the cleanup efforts. And, as usual, I forgot something at Costco so I will be going back. Could we use some foil steam table trays? They had full and half sized and I almost picked some up the other day. Don't forget the ice! Maybe one of us hanging around on Friday could be tasked with getting it.

I got everything, including bowls for the stew. Duh. That would have been classic, to make umpteen quarts of stew and have nothing to eat it from.
-
Don't worry about it, Heather. Thanks a ton. Plus, we have a Sam's Club close by. Oh good. I'm off then. I 'll get a case of Coke and a case of diet Coke. If anyone has any desire for "boutique" pop they can bring their own.

OMG. That would be excellent. Love, Heather (Rockville resident )

I'm off to Costco this morning, so if my list isn't complete please post by 9:30am EST because I will not be making another trip this week.

OK, here's my list: plastic silverware plastic serveware napkins paper towels plates big red cups permanent markers (for putting names on cups) small clear cups for wine (?? do we need these?) garbage bags disposable gladware bowls for leftovers (if there are any) Anything else? Shall I pick up a pack of name tags too? How about a case or two of Coke?

Oooh, yes, care to share? Mmmm...potato salad & bacon. When I get a moment (after the kids go to bed, most likely), I will add it to the eG recipes.
-
Varmint, I think we are planning to drive down on Thursday, so I can be around at least part of the day on Fri to cook.

Are all of those American? I would think that they came over from Europe, because I was served far more sweet pickled vegetables in Germany than anywhere else. One of my most treasured recipes is a handwritten recipe from my first generation great grandmother - potato salad with bacon and a hot sweet and sour dressing.

That . . . just doesn't sound right. Well, you gotta get a really big juicer, see...

Yowza. I had no idea there was a lactation porn industry, although it's not really surprising that it exists. Funny Salon.com story about breastmilk. Crème booblée. Most ridiculous baby food item: baby juice. This is different from adult juice (at 1/3 the cost) how?

I am of German heritage, lived in Germany for a couple of years, and grew up eating a lot of Sauerbraten, spatzle, schniztle, sauerkraut, various other pickled veggies, etc. I just don't care for a lot of it. Now Ethiopian I do get.

Miracle Whip makes an excellent face cream. Really. You'd get it if your family was from Oklahoma or Texas. It must be some bastardization of boiled dressing, if anyone knows what that is, because it tastes nothing like mayonnaise. I don't get German cuisine - except for the sausages.
-
You got that right. I still find drops of it all over the house. Dunno. I've never had the opportunity to ask one of my friends for a glass.
-
I got some last night and found it way too sweet for my tastes. My grocery store still has Coffee Heath Bar Crunch! Hooray!
-
Well, good for you. And breast milk is a bodily fluid as far as I'm concerned. I tasted it when I needed to but wasn't into pumping a big glass for myself.
-
Melted? I've always eaten apple pie with a wedge of extra sharp cheddar on the side, not melted on top. Eeeew.

Krupin's is the only place in the area I've had anything close to a real deal NYC deli. Hmmm... sounds like a plan for Sunday lunch. Krupin's has terrific lox and eggs. Not sure if this still holds, but Sundays used to be pretty jumping there. Be prepared for a wait.

For the longest time Emma gagged on any food that wasn't perfectly smooth. The commercial baby food has a smoother texture than I was able to accomplish at home. Once she figured out the chewing thing she got more adventurous, and ate more table food. Ian learned how to chew much earlier and ate mostly table food. BTW, I don't understand the references to "shit" and "processed crap." I have a couple of jars still and the ingredients on one are listed as carrots, water, ascorbic acid (vit C) and the other is pears, water, ascorbic acid. That hardly sounds like toxic waste.

So sorry. I had no idea of the damage I was doing by feeding my children strained peas occasionally. I humbly apologize. Does the fact that I bought organic lessen my offense? I'm just not usually in the habit of drinking my own bodily fluids.

You'd better not visit my house.

Hated as a kid, but like now: raw green peppers, shrimp (probably because mom only bought frozen), runny egg yolks. Hated as a kid and still hate: cooked oysters, raw clams, canned mushrooms, canned spinach, overcooked cauliflower, raw broccoli, Uncle Ben's converted rice. I had to developed a taste for Scotch in my late 20's, but I'm with Bloviatrix - Laphraoig is still too peaty for me.

Really? That's the opposite of my experience. I love coffee, but the only time I really disliked the taste was when I was pregnant. Must be one of those wacky hormone things.
